April 23, 2026

CHICAGOHyatt Regency Chicago has completed the final phase of a multi-year, $200 million renovation that updated all 2,032 guestrooms and suites, several major ballrooms and meeting areas.

The project included three phases. The first, completed in 2023, updated guestrooms and suites in the West Tower. The second, completed in 2024, renovated the Regency and Crystal Ballrooms and completed updates to East Tower accommodations. The final phase focused on the Grand Ballroom and adjacent event spaces.

The Grand Ballroom now includes a nearly 7,000-square-foot foyer with built-in registration desks, digital screens for event branding and a digital feature wall. The foyer leads into the 24,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom, which has been updated with customizable LED ceiling panels, modernized finishes and renovated surrounding breakout spaces.

The renovation also includes updates to the Crystal Ballroom, which has a private outdoor terrace, as well as other meeting and event spaces throughout the property.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone and debut the reimagined Hyatt Regency Chicago,” said Mark Wagner, general manager. “As the largest hotel in Chicago, operating in one of the most dynamic meeting markets in the country, this $200 million transformation reinforces our commitment to delivering exceptional spaces for today’s attendees. Every guestroom, meeting venue, networking area, and public space has been thoughtfully redesigned to reflect how people gather, connect, and do business today.”

Since 2013, Hyatt Regency Chicago has invested more than $368 million in property improvements, including a previous $168 million lobby and meeting space update.

The hotel is located along the Chicago River and is Illinois’ largest hotel. It plans to offer holiday activations, food and beverage programming and seasonal guest experiences this year.
