Baoase Rebrands as Baoase Curaçao and Plans 14 New Accommodations

August 11, 2026

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao — Baoase will add 14 private plunge-pool suites, a resort pool and a restaurant as part of an expansion scheduled to open in January 2027.

The project will increase the boutique resort’s inventory from 23 to 37 accommodations. The property also will change its name from Baoase Luxury Resort to Baoase Curaçao.

The new suites will incorporate contemporary design elements and updated technology while maintaining the privacy and Bali-inspired design of the existing property, according to the resort.

“This expansion is not about becoming bigger; it’s about becoming better,” Director Niels van der Valk said. “Growth only has value when it strengthens the guest experience.”

Baoase opened as a boutique hotel in 2009 on the site of the van der Valk family’s former private home on the coast of Willemstad. The family-owned resort is located on Curaçao’s southern coast.

Resort leadership said the name change is intended to emphasize the property’s connection to Curaçao and the role of the island and its residents in the resort’s development.

Baoase did not disclose the project’s investment cost.
