Virgin Hotels Atlanta Planned for Centennial Yards
April 22, 2026
ATLANTA — Virgin Hotels has announced plans to open a 261-room hotel in downtown Atlanta’s Centennial Yards development in 2027.
Developers say Virgin Hotels Atlanta will be the “cornerstone” of Centennial Yards’ Entertainment District, a 470,000-square-foot mixed-use development planned near Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena. Centennial Yards is a $5 billion, 50-acre redevelopment project led by Centennial Yards Co., which was created by CIM Group as the owner and master developer of the project.
The hotel will feature Virgin Hotels’ Chambers room design, which separates space for sleeping, working and relaxing. Accommodations will include 21 “Grand King Chambers,” 21 one-bedroom suites, a penthouse suite and “Richard’s Flat,” the brand’s signature residential suite concept.
“In Centennial Yards, we’ve found a partner that shares our vision for a vibrant, welcoming neighborhood,” said Joe Margison, CEO of Virgin Hotels. “With Virgin Hotels Atlanta, we want to bring our signature mix of heartfelt service, bold design and playful spirit to a property that feels rooted in Atlanta and perfectly matched to the energy of Centennial Yards.”
Margison also noted Virgin’s existing ties to the city through Virgin Atlantic service connecting Atlanta travelers to London and Manchester, England, in partnership with Delta Air Lines.
The property will include three food and beverage venues: a ground-floor lobby bar with an outdoor patio; a signature restaurant and pool bar with a private dining room and covered terrace; and a rooftop bar and lounge with skyline views and space for private events.
The hotel also will include a pool deck with 10 private cabanas, a seasonal outdoor bar, an event lawn and about 2,900 square feet of flexible meeting space across three rooms.
Virgin Hotels Atlanta will be developed with real estate firm The Drew Company, Centennial Yards Co. and CIM Group.
“Virgin Hotels brings a bold blend of energy, personality, and world-class hospitality, and we’re proud to welcome their first Georgia location to Centennial Yards,” said Brian McGowan, president of Centennial Yards Co. “With The Drew Company’s established presence in Atlanta and their partnership every step of the way, we’ve been able to bring this vision to life — creating a vibrant district that celebrates connection, culture, and the future of downtown.”
The firms say Centennial Yards Entertainment District will include venues, dining, retail and hospitality. Announced tenants include Live Nation and Cosm. Other planned openings in the district include Shake Shack, The Irish Exit, Chops Lobster Bar, Khao Thai Isan and The Busy Bee Café. Zephyr, a Southern brasserie at Hotel Phoenix, recently opened in the neighborhood.
The Atlanta property will join Virgin Hotels’ portfolio of properties in cities including New York, Edinburgh, Scotland, and London. The brand’s current portfolio includes hotels in London-Shoreditch, Dallas, Nashville, New Orleans, Las Vegas, Edinburgh and New York City.
