Commonwealth names Ken Strickler president and CEO

RICHMOND, Va. — Commonwealth has named Ken Strickler president and CEO following the retirement of company founder and former CEO Mark Claud.

Strickler assumed the role in June after serving as the commercial real estate company’s president since 2016.

He joined Commonwealth, formerly known as Commonwealth Commercial Partners, in 2005 as an assistant property manager. He became director of asset management and investments in 2008.

Strickler holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics from Hampden-Sydney College.

Claud founded the company in 1996 and retired as Commonwealth marked its 30th anniversary. The company has more than 225 employees, operates in 15 states and manages more than 24 million square feet of real estate.

Commonwealth adopted its current name and introduced a new brand identity in April, bringing its property management, sales and leasing, asset management, project management, investment, land brokerage and lodging management services under one name.

The company is also expanding its sales and leasing operations into Fredericksburg, Va., and its lodging and property management presence in the Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads area. Additional growth includes rural land, farm and forestry brokerage services in Virginia, a brokerage operation added in Nashville in 2025 and an expanded commercial real estate portfolio in Dallas.
