Marriott Completes Joint Venture to Add Lefay to Global Portfolio

Marriott International has completed a joint venture with the Leali family, founders of Lefay, bringing the Italian luxury wellness hospitality brand into Marriott’s global portfolio.

The joint venture owns the Lefay brand and intellectual property assets, while the brand’s founders will continue to own the Italian real estate assets. The properties will operate under long-term management agreements with the joint venture.

Founded in Italy in 2006 by Domenico Alcide and Liliana Leali, Lefay operates wellness resorts in natural settings. The brand’s current portfolio includes properties in Lago di Garda and the Dolomites, with additional resorts under development in Tuscany, Southern Italy and the Swiss Alps.

Lefay is Marriott’s first brand focused exclusively on luxury wellness. Its properties include spa programming, indoor-outdoor spaces, wellness treatments, multi-day wellness programs, nutrition, movement and preventive health offerings.

Marriott said it will support Lefay’s growth through its global development, sales, marketing and distribution platforms. Lefay properties are expected to become available through Marriott’s digital platforms and participate in Marriott Bonvoy, with integration expected to be completed in late 2026.

Bethesda, Md.-based Marriott International has more than 9,900 properties in 146 countries and territories as of March 31, 2026. The company franchises, operates and licenses hotel, residential, timeshare, yacht, outdoor and other lodging products.
