The Ivory Opens 48-Room Boutique Hotel in Los Angeles’ Koreatown

LOS ANGELES — The Ivory, a 48-room boutique hotel in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood, is now welcoming guests.

The hotel, located at 457 S. Mariposa Ave., was founded by developer and hospitality operator Rachel Gerstein. Rates start at $375 per night.

The Ivory was designed as a residential-style boutique property with guest rooms, a lobby lounge, courtyard, pool, rooftop deck and 24-hour fitness center. The hotel also offers morning bread service and evening cookie service as part of its daily guest programming.

“Koreatown — and Los Angeles more broadly — offers an incredible sense of energy, culture, and constant movement,” Gerstein said. “With The Ivory, I wanted to create a place where guests can truly exhale — a tucked-away retreat that feels intimate and intentional, without ever veering into pretension. Every detail is rooted in the kind of experience I seek when traveling: thoughtful design, meaningful connections to local and emerging art, engaging programming, abundant natural light, and an overarching sense of sanctuary.”

The hotel’s design includes warm oak herringbone floors, layered lighting, curated playlists and a custom Air Aroma scent. Common spaces use more color and pattern, while guest rooms feature softer, tonal hues intended to support both short visits and extended stays.

The Ivory’s food and beverage program includes small plates, caviar service, classic cocktails, champagne and a wine list that highlights California producers. The hotel also plans to introduce cultural programming in the months ahead, including panel discussions, tastings, chef collaborations, pop-ups, intimate performances and rotating exhibitions.

The hotel’s art program is led by art director Matt Scheele and focuses on Los Angeles’ creative community. The collection includes works by Los Angeles-born or Los Angeles-based artists, photographers and sculptors, including Urs Fischer, Richard Misrach, Rafa Esparza, Rebecca Morris and Ruby Neri.

The lobby lounge features “Daydream,” a site-specific installation in poured mirror and glass by New York-based artist Rob Wynne. The work is suspended against a custom mural created for the space.

Guests may use either digital, self-guided check-in or a traditional check-in with the hotel’s on-property team.

The Ivory is near several Los Angeles cultural venues and landmarks, including the Wiltern Theatre, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, LACMA and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
