LAKE GENEVA, WI — AAA Four Diamond Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, a Marcus Hotels & Resorts property, has announced the appointment of Jonathan Gutiérrez as the resort’s new executive chef. With a culinary career spanning over a decade, Gutiérrez has earned a reputation for his whimsical creativity and passion for locally sourced ingredients. Inspired by everything from pop culture to natural surroundings, Gutiérrez has earned national recognition as well as a large social media presence.
Born and raised in Aguascalientes, Mexico, Gutiérrez has been cooking since he was a child, inspired and learning from his mother’s dishes and techniques. His interest in creating imaginative dishes led him to restaurants and dining facilities across the U.S., including Walt Disney World where he was a cultural representative and culinary intern early in his career.
Prior to joining Grand Geneva, Gutiérrez worked in several notable restaurants and resorts including La Quinta Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, where he held the position of banquet chef. Most recently, he was the executive chef at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa.
In his role as the leader of culinary operations and menus at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa, Gutiérrez will supervise a diverse collection of dining experiences, encompassing acclaimed restaurants, cafes, banquets, and special events. He aims to craft menus that highlight local Wisconsin flavors, seasonal ingredients, and innovative techniques, and he seeks to draw inspiration from the resort’s expansive 1,300-acre campus and the beauty of its natural surroundings.
“We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Gutiérrez as our executive chef,” shared Grand Geneva Managing Director Skip Harless in a press release. “His talent, creativity, expertise, and fun approach to the art of cooking make him the perfect fit for our resort’s award-winning restaurants. We are confident that, under his leadership, our guests will continue to be treated to unforgettable dining experiences, including in our event spaces, which are due to be completely renovated by spring 2024.”
