The Kulm Hotel St. Moritz Welcomes Star-Studded Lineup of Chefs this Winter Season

December 1, 2023

ST. MORITZ, SWITZERLAND — The Kulm Hotel, which opened its doors in this Swiss alpine resort town in 1856, has announced the opening of three restaurants in partnership with some talented chefs and creatives from around the world.

Michelin-starred chef, Mauro Colagreco runs the Kulm Country Club; British chef Tom Booton has taken up residency at the Sunny Bar; and Peruvian chef Claudia Canessa, in partnership with British artist and designer Luke Edward Hall, helms the new Peruvian destination restaurant, Amaru. The Kulm has also appointed directeur d’ambiance Arman Naféei, who has curated a music program.

“The Kulm is a bastion of tradition, but it is also the home of creativity and innovation in hospitality — it is always our desire to work with cultural pioneers who can help create a sense of magical escapism for our guests,” The Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz, General Manager Heinz Hunkeler said in a press release. “We are proud to partner with these leading creatives and to create an unforgettable winter season ahead.”

Amaru offers a sense of the unexpected right in the heart of the Alps. The menu, crafted by Canessa, is based on the idea of sharing street food dishes, while the interior design, created by Hall, is inspired by the glamor of St. Moritz and the surrounding natural beauty of the Engadin Valley.

Colagreco introduces a relaxed, elegant concept to the Kulm Country Club. The re-imagined spaces celebrate the natural light and beauty of the surrounding mountains and create a relaxed, festive atmosphere. Music programming, including curated sounds and featured artists exclusively invited by Naféei, add to the overall ambience.

At the Sunny Bar, Booton brings a new approach that celebrates the heritage and tradition of the oldest sports bar in the Alps by infusing Swiss and British ingredients. Taking inspiration from the concept of the Gastro pub, Booton’s menus feature hearty dishes, elevated with a sophisticated interpretation, such as Tom’s Toad in the Hole.

“We embrace a symphony of flavors, a grand culinary journey where every dish tells a tale of excellence. We have the widest variety of cuisines and tastes on offer across all our restaurants,” shared Mauro Taufer, executive chef at The Kulm Hotel. “Collaborating with the finest chefs worldwide, we craft an experience where every palate finds its masterpiece, ensuring tomorrow’s delight surpasses today’s expectations.”

The Kulm Hotel’s culinary offering also extends to its Pizzeria restaurant, which now features a new state-of-the-art show kitchen and striking wine cabinet display.
