Hillary Sandbach Promoted to Complex Director of Marketing for Waldorf Astoria’s Grand Wailea and Arizona Biltmore Resorts

April 6, 2023

Grand Wailea and Arizona Biltmore, two Waldorf Astoria Resorts, are proud to announce the appointment of Hillary Sandbach as the complex director of marketing. In her new role, Sandbach will lead in the development and execution of strategic marketing and communications plans that drive growth for both resorts, while bringing awareness to the luxury portfolio in each respective market.

“We are thrilled to announce Hillary’s well-deserved promotion to this essential role for the brand,” says SVP, Commercial Director and Hotel Operations Americas, Todd Arviso. “Hillary is a valued team leader with an inherent ability to inspire those around her, so this new role was a natural next step for her. Combined with her affinity for luxury hospitality, Hillary’s impressive track record makes her the ideal person for the position and we look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next.”

Most recently, Sandbach was the director of marketing for Grand Wailea, where she played an integral role during the property’s most extensive renovation in 30 years. Prior to her time at Waldorf Astoria, Sandbach was the director of marketing for Hyatt in the Hawaiian Islands, and was previously appointed to multiple key marketing roles during her nearly eight years at The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.

Sandbach’s life-long passion for travel was spurred at a young age, when she and her parents embarked on her first overseas trip to Kenya. Enamored with the lasting impact that exploring the world can have, Sandbach has since transformed her fervor for travel into a successful career in hospitality. Shortly after her trip to Kenya, 12-year-old Sandbach founded Backpacks Abroad Inc., an international non-profit designed to provide educational supplies to schools in third-world countries. The project lasted for nearly 10 years and raised funds for schools across four continents, impacting the lives of more than 10,000 children in the process.

In her new role as complex director of marketing for Arizona Biltmore and Grand Wailea, Sandbach is primed to welcome a new era for each newly renovated property. As one of the only existing luxury hotels influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, Arizona Biltmore is equipped with 705 plush guestrooms and refreshed standalone luxury cottages, 200,000 square feet of meeting space, and its new state-of-the-art Tierra Luna Spa and Sol Garden. Grand Wailea recently debuted phase one of its property-wide refresh, including a total revamp of the resort’s exclusive Napua rooms, suites and private lounge, as well as the transformation of two on-property restaurants, and a top-of-the-line spa slated to debut at the end of 2023.
