Black Desert Resort Announces Completion of Resort Center
September 19, 2025
IVINS, UT — Black Desert Resort, a destination for luxury hospitality, golf, and adventure, has announced in a press release the completion of its resort center. This hub in Southern Utah offers 447 rooms and suites spanning two distinct offerings — a Hotel Collection and Resort Collection. Guests can also enjoy seven food and beverage outlets, the 15,000-square-foot Plume Spa & Wellness, an infinity-edge pool with cabanas, a 19-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed championship golf course, a wide range of resort activities, and 45,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and event space. Black Desert Resort is masterfully designed to harmonize with the centuries-old canvas of black lava beds and burnt-red sandstone cliffs of Greater Zion.“
Our vision was to create luxury without pretense — an experience rooted in the soul of this incredible landscape,” said Managing Partner Patrick Manning. “We didn’t want to replicate traditional Southwest motifs with the resort development. Instead, we chose to let the raw beauty of Greater Zion inform every design choice, creating spaces that feel both sophisticated and organically connected to the land. The Resort Center is the heart of that vision, a place for guests to connect, relax, and be inspired.”
Black Desert Resort is anchored by a 19-hole Tom Weiskopf-designed championship golf course, which hosts annual events on the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. The resort features the infinity-edge pool complete with 12 private cabanas, fire pits, and a large hot tub. Guests enjoy guided hikes led by an adventure concierge, daily fitness classes at Plume Spa & Wellness, culinary workshops with the food and beverage team, golf clinics, and more.
The resort spans over 600 acres of scenic desert landscape, and guests receive easy access to nearby landmarks such as Snow Canyon and Zion National Park, as well as 200+ acres of preserved land, six miles of hiking trails, scenic bike paths, and more. Black Desert Resort is in close proximity to Tuacahn Center for the Arts, a red rock amphitheater hosting Broadway-style shows and concerts, and The Kayenta Art Village, a growing enclave of galleries, studios, festivals, and local restaurants in a lively hub that celebrates creativity, connection, and community spirit.
Scottsdale, Arizona-based Allen & Philp Architects conceived the overall design of the Resort Center while the architectural concept was led by the Madrid-based firm GVI, which drew direct inspiration from the surrounding ancient lava flows and sandstone mountains to create a contemporary desert aesthetic. Inside, the design was spearheaded by Allen & Philp, Black Desert Resort’s Manning, and Reef Capital Partners Director of Design Molly Enos. Guests can discover a palette of rich basalt, warm wood tones, and glowing orange glass accents that evoke desert sunsets. Floor-to-ceiling windows blur the line between the indoors and the vistas of the golf course and surrounding landscape. The trio wanted the interiors to feel like a seamless extension of the natural scenery.
The newly completed Resort Center at Black Desert introduces a differentiated hospitality experience through three distinct accommodations: the Hotel Collection, Resort Collection, and Plume Wellness Collection — each designed to meet the needs of today’s modern traveler.
Across all three collections, guests enjoy amenities including a welcome beverage upon arrival, furnished balconies, artwork inspired by Greater Zion, a personalized pillow menu by Malouf, on-demand golf cart transportation, exclusive access to the putting and driving range, and daily use of the pool, hot tub, and state-of-the-art fitness center.
With the Hotel Collection’s 148 rooms and suites, the Resort Collection’s 299 rooms and suites, and the soon-to-open Terrace Collection adding another 174, Black Desert Resort continues to expand its footprint.
The culinary program at Black Desert Resort stands as a destination in its own right, presenting a portfolio of seven unique dining concepts. Among these are its signature restaurants: Basalt, an American steakhouse showcasing prime cuts and local purveyors, and Latitude, a casual, open-air eatery specializing in wood-fired beef, seafood, and vegetable-forward cuisine. Additional culinary offerings include an indoor/outdoor lobby bar for inventive cocktails and small plates, an artisan coffee and dessert bar with gelato and pastries, a rooftop lounge offering 270-degree views and live entertainment, a lively sports bar with hearty bites and local craft beer, simulated golf bays, and a vibrant poolside bar for salads and frozen beverages.
Plume Spa & Wellness serves as the cornerstone of the resort’s wellness program. The 15,000-square-foot spa and fitness center signals a new era of high-end longevity and spa experiences in Southern Utah. Plume Spa & Wellness offers 13 state-of-the-art treatment rooms, a robust treatment menu that focuses on healing and restorative therapies and treatments, as well as a Longevity Lounge featuring high-tech equipment and immersive experiences for guests, including a dry cryo float, hyperbaric chamber, salt inhalation, and more.
Black Desert Resort offers more than 45,000 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor space with views of the vermillion sandstone cliffs and black lava beds. Featuring 18 distinct venues such as a 10,000-square-foot ballroom, five breakout rooms, naturally lit spaces, and event lawns capable of hosting up to 500 guests. The resort offers a dedicated events and conference team, along with an onsite chef-driven banquet and catering team, and is equipped to host conventions, conferences, trade shows, weddings, and various special events.
Black Desert Resort is committed to ecosystem preservation: 67 percent of the 600 acres surrounding the resort are protected open space, and the team has incorporated sustainable practices into the fabric of both the construction and daily operations. Black Desert Resort broke the record for C-Pace funding and is the world’s largest to use low-voltage Power over Ethernet for energy efficiency, and it employs an advanced water-reuse system.
Future developments of Black Desert Resort will include a water park, pickleball courts, additional rooms and suites, and more dining, shopping, and entertainment options.
