Arizona Biltmore Appoints New Managing Director Michael B. Hoffmann

March 15, 2023

Arizona Biltmore, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, has appointed a new managing director, Michael B. Hoffmann, following the resort’s recent $150-million, property-wide restoration. Equipped with four decades of luxury expertise as a prized hotelier, Hoffmann is bringing his long-standing passion for the hospitality industry to the reimagined property, welcoming a new era of Biltmore luxury to the 39-acre, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired desert location.

Hoffmann will oversee general operations and development of the legendary resort, informed by his extensive industry tenure and a diploma of hotel administration from Lausanne Hotel School in his homeland of Switzerland. Hoffmann’s vast experience in hospitality includes stints at the Four Seasons Resort in Dallas, Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Resorts, The Peninsula Group in New York, Hong Kong and California, Bacara Resort and Spa, and Ocean Club, Paradise Island. Hoffmann was also notably appointed Hilton’s vice president of brand performance, in which he oversaw the rapid expansion of the luxury portfolio, including Conrad and Waldorf Astoria properties.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michael as the resort’s new managing director,” says SVP, Commercial Director and Hotel Operations Americas, Todd Arviso. “His robust experience and passion for the industry make him the right person to propel the iconic resort forward in a way that preserves the resort’s storied history, while masterfully reimagining the property’s host of guest experiences.”

With Hoffmann at the helm of operations for the newly renovated resort, Arizona Biltmore is primed for a successful next chapter in its celebrated history. As one of the only existing luxury hotels influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright, the 94-year-old property continues to bestow unparalleled views of Phoenix Mountain Preserve, coupled with 705 plush guestrooms and refreshed standalone luxury cottages, 200,000 square feet of meeting space, and its newly unveiled, state-of-the-art Tierra Luna Spa and Sol Garden.
