Thompson Playa del Carmen Welcomes New General Manager Matías Tugores

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, MEXICO – Thompson Playa del Carmen last week welcomed a new General Manager, Matías Tugores, whose leadership, charisma, and expertise is bound to continue the property’s prosperity.

With more than 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Tugores has worked with hotels across the globe, from Spain to England to Morocco, and more, according to a press release. His career has focused on lifestyle properties and five-star hotels in the Ultra Luxury category.

“It is a great pleasure to be part of the Thompson Playa del Carmen family. I’m looking forward to growing and learning from the staff, developing new skills and ideas, and working together toward great achievements,” says Tugores.

The General Manager shared that his strategy will focus on initiatives that will further enrich the experience of all guests and is working to implement them this year.

Tugores has been recognized in hotel management and gastronomy, including in food and beverage by the ESHBI of Bilbao in Spain. His career includes positions at Iberostar in the Canary Islands, The Excellence Collection in Puerto Morelos, Catalonia Playa del Carmen, Preferred Hotels and Resorts, and Shibari Tulum.
