Wyndham to Open Flagship Dolce Hotel Close to Versailles

October 10, 2023

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced Monday the upcoming opening of the 178-room Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel. Located in the heart of France’s Yvelines region and minutes from the Palace of Versailles, the property was once owned by the Oberkampf-Mallet family and has been fully renovated by 2BDM Architects, one of France’s most prominent architectural studios specializing in preserving historic buildings, monuments and gardens.

Expected to open in December 2023, the property will offer 14 hectares of gardens surrounding the estate, two restaurants, a terraced bar and conference centre with 18 meeting rooms and a 550 sqm Baccarat ballroom, making it the largest in the region. Guests of the hotel will also have access to the Spa du Moncel by Sothys, including a heated indoor and outdoor pool, a sensory shower, snow cave, sauna, fitness room and seven treatment rooms. The hotel is located just 30 minutes from Paris-Orly Airport and a short walk from the Jouy-en-Josas Train Station.

As part of the restoration of the property, 2BDM Architects reinstated the famous Toiles de Jouy print in the décor of the guestrooms. First manufactured by Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf in the 20th century, in the town of Jouy-en-Josas where the hotel is located, the printed canvas is significant to the history of the hotel and the town, according to a press release. When guests arrive at the hotel, they will be greeted by two renowned works of art: “Long Term Parking” by Arman (1982), a sculpture of 59 cars encased in concrete to form an 18-metre tower and “Hommage à Eiffel” by César (1989), a monumental, 3-metre-high plaque made from pieces of the Eiffel Tower. The interior design and scenography were led by Ferry Interior Design (FID) and Frank Neau, a well-known landscape gardener, was responsible for the exterior architecture and garden of the Domaine du Montcel, one of the few remaining English gardens that have been preserved.

“Dolce by Wyndham Versailles – Domaine du Montcel is a fantastic representation of our Dolce by Wyndham brand, which is recognised as a leader in the groups and meetings space as well as for its superior cuisine and thoughtful amenities,” Jackie Brown, Regional Director of North & West Europe for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said. “This outstanding opening in France supports our mission to bring accommodation to destinations where travellers want to be.”

Part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts vast portfolio of 24 global brands, Dolce by Wyndham offers a curated collection of hotels in unique destinations. The new hotel joins a collection of Dolce hotels around the world including other sought-after locations such as Denmark, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Germany, Brazil, Vietnam, U.S. and more.
