Hilton Expands Mexico Presence with Two Tapestry Collection by Hilton Hotels

December 14, 2023

BAJA CALIFORNIA, MX, and McLEAN, VA — Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has announced the signings of two franchise agreements for the upcoming conversions of the 90-room Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in La Paz and the 70-room Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in San Jose del Cabo.

Expected to open in early 2024, the properties will mark the debut of Tapestry by Hilton in Baja California. Onirius Hospitality Advisors served as the principal advisor for the development and launch of both hotels.

The latest additions to the company’s portfolio continue to build upon Hilton’s deep-rooted commitment to growing its presence and offerings for all types of travelers in Mexico, where Hilton already has 90 hotels open and approximately 30 in the development pipeline.

“The Pacific Coast of Mexico represents an integral role in Hilton’s larger organic growth strategy across this diverse destination as we look to bolster our presence with world-class brands and add to our portfolio of award-winning hotels in Baja California,” said Mario Carbone, Hilton’s managing director, development, Mexico and Central America. “These two important hotel conversions propel our vision forward of introducing new brands in new destinations while providing value for our owners and catering to our evolving guests’ needs.”

“Both Perla La Paz and Tropicana Los Cabos will be great additions to our expanding Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio across Mexico and the brand’s global portfolio of over 115 hotels currently welcoming guests around the world with more than 100 under development,” said Jenna Hackett, brand leader, Tapestry Collection by Hilton. “Both of these unique properties encapsulate the vibrant personality of La Paz and San Jose del Cabo, respectively, and we look forward to offering guests authentic experiences at each property as they explore Baja California.”

Built in 1940, the historic Hotel Perla recently underwent a $10 million renovation, and it is expected to join the Hilton portfolio as Perla La Paz, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in early 2024. Known as a legendary hotel, Perla La Paz will continue to represent classic La Paz style with a nod to its Art Deco history and modernization of the city. Located in the golden zone of La Paz’s boardwalk, it is central to the charming city’s restaurants and attractions alongside sweeping vistas of the Gulf of California and Ensenada de La Paz.

Located just 500 feet from Plaza Mijares in the heart of the coastal getaway of San Jose del Cabo, the Tropicana Inn is scheduled to debut as Tropicana Los Cabos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in early 2024. The property is tucked into a quiet enclave near the city’s center and offers proximity to some of San Jose del Cabo’s top destinations for dining, vibrant art galleries, and local shopping.

“We are excited to partner with Hilton to convert and introduce these two storied properties for guests traveling to Baja California,” said Onirius Hospitality Advisors’ Luis Ruiz, who served as the principal advisor for the development and launch of both hotels. “Coupled with Hilton’s strategic vision for Mexico growth and prowess as a hospitality leader, we’re delighted to provide guests with a truly unforgettable experience as part of Tapestry Collection by Hilton whether they’re traveling to the state’s capital of La Paz or the laid-back getaway of San Jose del Cabo.”
