The Cloud One New York-Downtown Opens As First Stateside Lifestyle Brand Hotel From Motel One Group

Munich-Based hospitliaty group introduces The Cloud One New York-Downtown as their first U.S. based property, bringing Motel One signature style to the United States

Motel One Group, the Munich-based hospitality company with 85 properties across Europa, announced today the opening of its first hotel in New York City, launching a new lifestyle brand, The Cloud One Hotels. The hotel boasts a prime location in Downtown Manhattan, right next to the World Trade Center complex and 9/ 11 Memorial.

The Motel One Group was founded in 2000,  and has won multiple awards for its concept and it  is concidered to have launched the budget design hotel category in Germany. The new Cloud One brand gives Motel One Group more flexibility in developing and deploying new projects across the United States, Europe and more, providing travelers with a new accommodation option that delivers on style and specific services and amenities.

THE FIRST THE CLOUD ONE HOTEL IN NEW YORK

 Motel One Group is the first German hotel company to break ground in the United States, where the bustling city of New York helped provide the inspiration for starting The Cloud One Hotels brand.   Nestled in Manhattan’s Financial District, The Cloud One New York-Downtown is located right next to the World Trade Center complex and offers guests a variety of amenities including:

  • Over 326 rooms across 28 floors, including two rooftop suites with a superb view of the New York skyline, 9/11 Memorial and the Hudson River
  • Local attractions like the World Observatory and Pier25 in the Hudson River Park are within walking distance
  • Easy transportation with Subway access to the N, R, W, 4, 5 and 1 lines making it easy for guests to navigate the city and surrounding areas

 The interior design at The Cloud One New York-Downtown welcomes guests into an urban jungle, toying with natural materials, casual sofas, lamps made of bamboo and cardboard, plants and modern architecture. In the entrance area, the handcrafted pendant lamp NANA by Brooklyn-based Pelle Design Studios, hovers over the reception area in the shape of giant banana leaves, while the hotel’s concept underscores the 17 UN development goals and sustainable living.

On the sixth floor, the Cloud One Wine Bar & Lounge awaits guests with an exclusive design, outdoor terrace and an unobstructed view of New York City skyline. Workbenches provide a welcoming spot to work with inviting leather sofas and comfortable armchairs that are ideal for a drink and make the perfect space for guests to relax solo or gather with fellow travelers.  At the wine bar, connoisseurs can choose from an exclusive selection of 60 first-class U.S. organic wines selected by Mark Guillaudeu, US Sommelier of the Year 2022. Guests can also enjoy organic snacks, a large selection of cocktails and an authentic New York music program, regularly curated by local DJs at sunset. The Cloud One Lounge is a place to retreat to and enjoy after a day exploring the city.

FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY 

With a strong focus on sustainability, The Cloud One brand encompasses climate protection, as well as sustainable operations and services. Regional produce is first choice. At the organic breakfast at The Cloud One New York-Downtown, guests will find, among other things, handmade jam and pastrami from Brooklyn, honey from beehives on the hotel’s roof and peanut butter ground in-house. The New York breakfast experience is finished with egg soufflé, overnight oats and a large selection of vegan dishes.  The Cloud One Hotels brand emphasises its strong commitment to sustainability by purchasing 100 percent green electricity from renewable sources. Dishes, textiles and sanitary products are all sustainably certified. All amenities such as shampoo, shower gel and body lotion are also organic products.
