Marram Montauk Reopens With City + Sea Offering

May 19, 2021

MONTAUK, NY Nestled on sand dunes in the heart of Montauk, just steps away from the town, Marram Montauk is a luxury boutique resort that is bringing a new standard of essential, effortless luxury to Montauk. Situated directly on the Atlantic Ocean, the resort, which has long been a place for noteworthy surfers to gather, today announces its official reopening for the season. With New York City officially opening July 1st and the market out east continuing to show a huge spike in demand, Marram and Walker Hotels in New York City is celebrating the kickoff of summer with the “City and Sea” package, inviting guests to explore the best of both worlds that New York has to offer.

Taking over a property that has been welcoming Montauk vacationers for decades, Bridgeton Holdings [Walker Hotel Tribeca, Walker Hotel Greenwich Village, Marram Montauk] breathed new life into the former 1960’s Atlantic Terrace Motel creating Marram, the barefoot luxury lifestyle resort that officially opened in April 2020. A fresh addition to the Montauk boutique hotel scene, laid-back luxury is at the core of the hotel, which encourages guests to slow down and focus on life’s simple pleasures. Upon visiting, guests will notice Marram’s both innate and intimate sense of place that evokes the spirit of its natural, untouched landscape. The boutique resort, collaboratively designed by Bridgeton Holdings and Brooklyn-based Post Company, features 96 guest rooms, an open communal lounge, along with an on-property counter service South American café. The resort’s surf shack offers lessons with the world-class surfers of Engstrom Surf, a family-run surf school helmed by the Engstrom siblings.

Named after the wild grass that grows on the sand dunes surrounding the property, Marram’s design takes cues from Montauk’s natural beauty, evoking the grey morning mist and expansive dunes with its light and muted color palette. The hotel’s main entry is framed with wild botanical balusters that gently guide guests through the property and the lobby exudes a raw warmth with its unfinished and uninsulated white oak walls. The building’s exterior is clad in hand-trimmed cedar with walkways connecting various rooms and spaces framed with custom Mahogany handrails and lush dune-inspired landscaping blending into the natural dunescape of the Atlantic seaboard.

Marram’s guestrooms and suites overlooking the ocean feature exposed white oak lumber beams, hand-textured plaster walls, polished concrete flooring, handwoven, naturally dyed rugs by In Residence, and bedside tables and stools made from solid Suar wood reclaimed from old homes and fishing boats — cultivating a space reminiscent of a cozy guest room at a seaside summer surf cottage. Each room is completed with a work from renowned beach and surf photographer Brian Bielmann and minimalist line-work from Rhode Island-based musician and artist Sean Spellman. Beachfront rooms overlook the water’s edge while courtyard rooms provide a breezy walk to the pool and ocean, with a grand room that opens directly onto Marram’s verdant courtyard and open fire pits, welcoming guests to indulge in s’mores fireside.

Mostrador Marram, the hotel’s on-property café, takes on a refined approach to the Latin American counter or “mostrador,” accented by oceanside grilling in an intimate yet communal atmosphere. Helmed by Fernando Trocca of the beloved Mostrador Santa Teresita, and Martín Pittaluga of the lauded Parador La Huella Mostrador Marram serves an elevated menu of breezy, South American summer fare wholly unique to Montauk.

Marram is ideally situated, only steps away from the coveted Terrace surf break and a five-minute walk from the main stretch of the bustling heart of Montauk. The property is located alongside Shadmoor State Park, which offers hiking and biking trails throughout its scenic bluffs, and just a short bike ride to Camp Hero Park, where the first lighthouse in New York was built and still stands today.

In addition to the many amenities already included in the Marram experience – beach chair/umbrella/towel service, complimentary Retrospec® cruiser bicycles, a variety of wellness activities from yoga to meditation to nature walks, and of course, nightly fire pits and s’mores, Marram is launching the “Surf and Sand Package.” From May 15th – June 30th, guests who book this package will receive a private beach fire, daily breakfast for two as well as private surf lessons with Engstrom Surf. A three-night package starts at $1700 plus taxes and fees. Guests can book HERE.

As part of Bridgeton Holdings celebration of New York City’s rebound, the brand is launching the “City and Sea” package, offering east coasters a chance to experience luxury seaside and in their own city. For stays now through the end of June, travelers who book a two-night stay at Marram, get one free night at either Walker Hotel—Walker Hotel Greenwich Village or Walker Hotel Tribeca, good for up to a year.
