Loge To Open Second Leavenworth Location In The City’s Downtown Neighborhood

August 27, 2020

LOGE, the lifestyle hotel group which brings forgotten motels near towns and trails back to life, is set to open its second Leavenworth, WA location on November 1st, 2020. The new LOGE Leavenworth Downtown property is less than one mile away from the brand’s Leavenworth Riverside location, on the banks of the Wenatchee River. This is the sixth LOGE property to open since the brand’s inception in 2017.

LOGE recently reopened all pre-existing locations on July 1st, introducing new offerings, amenities, technological upgrades, and regulations to coincide with COVID safety guidelines. Creating an industry-wide “Go Together Code,” LOGE introduced an operative and tactical response to preparing for post-Covid-19 travel, including contactless check-in, digital room entry, deep cleaning policies and DIY housekeeping kits for guests, paired with the rearranging of indoor public spaces to ensure safe social distancing. The brand has also implemented a strict mask policy and a stringent pre-shift physical and mental health checklist for all crew members.

With bookings currently live, LOGE Leavenworth Downtown will mark a new chapter for the brand as the first location in an urban area, and first divergence from LOGE’s typical design aesthetic. For this project, LOGE utilized local architect firm Syndicate Smith and Washington-based contractor Rimmer & Roeter to renovate the property. Leaning into the Bavarian-inspired culture of Leavenworth, LOGE worked with interior design firm RailiCA Design, whose founder, Raili Clasen, spent time in Leavenworth to absorb the look and feel of the town. Upholding the modernity and standards of LOGE’s guest rooms, Clasen worked to add elements that made sense for Leavenworth by moving away from the brand’s usually bright color palette and use of hard metals, utilizing lighter woods and neutral tones, with that pop of orange makes an appearance across all LOGE properties.

“We are excited to embark on a new chapter for the LOGE brand with our Leavenworth Downtown property – our first city-center location offering more ways to help our guests live outside and go explore all that the Pacific Northwest has to offer.” – LOGE Co-Founder and CEO Johannes Ariens.

The newly renovated LOGE Leavenworth Downtown will feature a bar/café called The Iconoclast and a beer garden serving local draughts, as well as outdoor patios and ample workspace.

For The Iconoclast, LOGE collaborated with local Leavenworth eatery Yodelin Broth to create a unique menu that offers warming bone broth soups, salads, craft beer, & cocktails to guests and locals alike. The 1,660 square foot cafe and lounge space is also perfect for working remotely, which is at an all-time high this year.

The 2,800 square foot beer garden will serve local Leavenworth draughts from Icicle Brewing & coffee from Seattle based Anchorhead Coffee. The space will include a cozy fire pit and performance stage where LOGE will continue their live outdoor music and movies programming, which is popular across all the brand’s locations.

Additionally, the property will include a 1,600 square foot multi-use meeting space, perfect for corporate retreats or remote work. Guests of LOGE Leavenworth Downtown can also access the LOGE Leavenworth Riverside location and its plentiful outdoor space.

LOGE Leavenworth Downtown will offer 26 Guest Rooms and Suites, including five basic single queen rooms, two basic double queen rooms, six standard single queen rooms, four standard double queen rooms, three queen suites, four king suites and two single king rooms with bunk beds – perfect for family trips. In contrast, LOGE Leavenworth Riverside offers Private Cabins and Hostel Room accommodations.

Unique to LOGE Leavenworth Downtown, rooms and suites will feature in-room electric hot water pots and teas, plus Alpine Start instant coffee. The property will also feature the brand’s best offerings and amenities such as gear rentals, Raleigh city cruiser bikes, and sustainable bath products. All LOGE locations are dog-friendly, include property-wide WiFi and feature the signature, orange Kammock brand hammocks in rooms.

LOGE Leavenworth Downtown is the ideal complimentary experience to the intimate-camp setting offered at LOGE Leavenworth Riverside. The new location is perfect for travelers looking to stay within walking distance of the mountain town’s center for shopping, bars and restaurants, while still having access to some of the best hiking, rock climbing,  mountain biking,  fishing and river rafting in the U.S.

“Leavenworth is one of the only true mountain towns in Washington State with the infrastructure to support so much outdoor recreation. LOGE Leavenworth Downtown will highlight Leavenworth’s multidimensional offering – promoting outdoor adventures as primary activities, with Bavarian shops and beer drinking as fun bonuses.” says LOGE Co-Founder and CEO Johannes Ariens.

Leavenworth, located in central Washington’s Cascade Mountains, is best known for its likeness to Germany’s Bavaria, with Alpine-style buildings serving mulled wine and German beers, but the town’s towering mountain peaks and surrounding land was known to Native Americans as some of the most plentiful terrain in the region for generations. The area is a known habitat for ospreys and eagles.

Eventually, European settlers reached the area and after almost a century of gold, timber and fur industry successes and failures, the townsfolk played up the area’s Bavarian similarities through a series of renovations and the creation of themed festivals, such as the Autumn Leaf Festival, Maifest, and the Christmas Lighting Festival – which all continue to this day.

For this project, LOGE renovated Leavenworth’s historic hospital building, which has since morphed from its original structure into an Inn, an office space, and a restaurant. LOGE saw the eclectic and historic past of the place as a feature, wanting to breathe new life into the building and the surrounding area of Downtown Leavenworth. With the city’s desire to evolve past its quaint, kitschy reputation, to become an environment and community-driven travel destination and multi-sport outdoor hub, LOGE Leavenworth Downtown only adds to the momentum.

Ultimately, LOGE Leavenworth Downtown gives travelers more options for getting outdoors, which is the goal with every LOGE property. The brand welcomes everyone to stay at their properties, from extreme outdoor enthusiasts to those just looking to grab a pint where the mountains grace the skyline. LOGE wants their guests to experience the outdoors in their own way, and now, with this second location in Leavenworth, that goal has been fully realized.
