Lark Hotels Announces The Opening Of Bluebird Lake Placid

December 8, 2022

— Lark Hotels is thrilled to announce the addition of Bluebird Lake Placid to the growing Bluebird by Lark portfolio, Lark Hotels’ collection of redesigned, contemporary hotels, motels and ski lodges. Slated to open its first phase on January 11, 2023, Bluebird is conducting extensive renovations of the downtown property to open Bluebird Lake Placid throughout 2023. Steps away from Mirror Lake, Bluebird Lake Placid will offer guests a serene lakeside retreat with 90 rooms inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian design to maximize relaxation.

With interiors designed by Elder & Ash, Bluebird Lake Placid will echo the secluded ambiance of the surrounding mountains and Lake Placid’s history as a longtime vacation destination. The design of Bluebird Lake Placid will stray from the classic Adirondack-style of the region, instead taking cues from Scandinavian and Japanese alpine influences that focus on natural materials, muted colors, clean lines, and well-curated furnishings inspired by year-round alpine activities.

Surrounded by sweeping views of the Adirondack Mountains, Bluebird Lake Placid will serve as a lakeside haven for travelers looking to experience the nearby outdoor pursuits, such as skiing, ice fishing, and snowshoeing. As the host city of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, the adrenaline rush and inspiring athletic spirit can still be felt today. Beyond winter, Lake Placid draws explorers and wanderers from across the country for swimming, hiking, biking, fishing, and golf. Dogs are also welcome for adventure at Bluebird Lake Placid.

“On the heels of three successful Bluebird debuts in the past year, we’re thrilled to welcome Bluebird Lake Placid to the ever-growing portfolio,” said Rob Blood, Founder and President, Lark Hotels. “With many new properties in the pipeline, the concept of Bluebird by Lark has resonated strongly with modern day travelers, and we are thrilled to continue bringing Bluebird to new, exciting markets across the U.S.”

The hotel will open its doors on January 11, just in time for The Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games, the largest winter multi-sport collegiate athletic event in the world. The 11-day international festival and competition is presented by I LOVE NY, and will return to Lake Placid for the first time since 1972. Additionally, the Empire State Winter Games, the largest Olympic-style winter sporting event in the Northeast, will take place in Lake Placid from February 2-5, 2023.

Bluebird Lake Placid will be the third Bluebird property to call the state of New York home, alongside Bluebird Spa City Motor Lodge (Saratoga Springs) and Bluebird Hunter Lodge (The Catskills). Following the recent opening of Hunter Tavern at Bluebird Hunter Lodge, Bluebird Lake Placid will be the second property with a bespoke dining experience known as Après Only, set to open in mid-2023. Après Only is a bar and a tasting room inspired by 80s’ nostalgia and the classic ski culture of Lake Placid. In traditional alpine style, Après Only’s menu will offer classic mountain favorites from charcuterie and Bavarian pretzels, to IPAs and a quintessential shot-ski.

Capturing the essence of a calming and tranquil escape, all 90 rooms will seamlessly blend the great outdoors with modern comforts. Bluebird Lake Placid will offer a variety of room types to accommodate various travelers, from Standard Kings and Double Queens to Queen Bunks, Deluxe Kings, King Junior Suites, King Suites, King Bunk Suites, and Double Queen Suites. Designed specifically for a group getaway, the Party Friends Suite is the largest and most unique room that will accommodate up to 8 people. Accessible rooms will also be available.

Bluebird Lake Placid will be the fourth Bluebird hotel opening in the past year, joining the collection of boutique roadside lodges: Bluebird Sunapee in New Hampshire (May 2022), Bluebird Dennisport in Massachusetts (June 2022) and Bluebird Hunter Lodge in New York (July 2022). Several additional hotel properties are under agreement to be formally announced at a later date.

Bluebird Lake Placid is now accepting reservations for stays as of January 11, 2023 with prices starting at $199. For additional details and bookings, please visit: https://www.bluebirdhotels.com/hotels/lake-placid
