Kimpton Key West Collection Unveils Ridley House

KEY WEST, FL–Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announces the latest addition to the Kimpton Key West collection with the opening of Ridley House, the fourth of five hotels to open in the new group located throughout the island’s historic Old Town. Joining the recently opened Winslow’s BungalowsLighthouse Hotel and Fitch Lodge, Ridley House features 23 elegantly appointed and expansive guestrooms spread across three historic homes, two Victorian and one Bahamian Eyebrow, on the grounds of what was once the estate of a wealthy 19th-century industrialist and celebrated naturalist. The final property in the collection, Ella’s Cottages, is slated to open in November 2020.

With a prime corner location in Old Town, Ridley House is ideally situated for those seeking easy access to the island’s numerous water activities as well as Key West’s famous nightlife. Classic bohemian touches such as private porches, picket fences, low-hanging trees, a sparkling pool, and dining vignettes immerse guests into a serene and relaxing South Florida experience for which Key West is renowned. The historic property dates to the Nineteenth century when it was built by wealthy industrialist Richard Kemp, a merchant and furniture dealer who also launched the sponging industry in Key West.

“We are so excited to welcome guests to Ridley House,” said Kimpton Key West General Manager Cheryl Martin. “The rich history associated with the hotel pairs seamlessly with the exceptional service that guests have come to expect of the Kimpton brand, and it is a perfect addition to our growing collection.”

A Distinctive Collection for a One-of-a-Kind Destination

Winslow’s Bungalows is the largest property in the collection at 85 rooms and spans a lush, landscaped campus in the center of Key West just two blocks off Duval Street, offering a spacious and relaxing setting complete with three private pools, an outdoor bar and vibrant gardens. Lighthouse Hotel, a historic property located adjacent to both the iconic Key West Lighthouse and the Ernest Hemingway House, features a collection of mid-19th-century buildings set amongst brick garden grounds, a lively swimming pool and a pool-side bar. With 44 guestrooms, Fitch Lodge is the most value-driven of the collection, and in addition to its cozy neighborhood setting, features easy access to the Key West Ferry, charter boats, sunset sails, snorkeling adventures, deep sea fishing and more, making it ideal for couples and adventurous travelers looking to explore the crystal clear water surrounding the Florida Keys. Ridley House is the collection’s closest location to the Key West Historic Seaport, Mallory Square and just a crawl away from Duval Street. Ella’s Cottages is expected to open in November 2020, and will provide a peaceful oasis surrounded by tropical landscaping in the heart of the Old Town art district.
