June 27, 2022

MINNEAPOLIS—Hawkeye Hotels and JR Hospitality are excited to announce the grand opening of Home 2 Suites/Tru by Hilton in Minneapolis.

Originally constructed in 1906, the 203-room hotel offers incredible views of the Twin Cities’ magnificent architecture. Located at 317 2nd Ave S, in downtown Minneapolis, the building was originally built as the headquarters for the Soo Line Railroad, and then served as the home of Western Union for more than 50 years.

Guests will be steps away from must-see attractions including US Bank stadium, Target Field, Target Stadium, the Minneapolis Convention Center, and the Armory Event Center. The Twin Cities are home to a number of successful major-league sports teams that attract millions of visitors to the city each year. Additionally, Minneapolis is home to a vibrant performing arts community: the Orpheum and State theaters attract a number of guests to the city each year. The Skywalk conveniently connects visitors to the city’s main attractions. The hotel features complimentary breakfast, a fitness center, a business center, and lightning-fast Wi-Fi.

“After spending 5 years in design and construction to completely rehabilitate the building, we are extremely proud of the final product,” said Jay Bakhta, Managing Director for JR Hospitality. “We look forward to opening an additional 400 rooms in the Twin Cities in the coming months.”

“Minneapolis is one of the busiest MSAs in the country, and we are bullish that the market will continue seeing growth,” said Om Patel, VP of Development for Hawkeye Hotels. “Over the last few years, we have opened significant inventory in the market in an effort to be ready for the anticipated demand.”

Hawkeye Hotels, one of the nation’s largest privately owned hotel companies, will operate the hotel. In partnership with JR Hospitality, Hawkeye Hotels has now opened over ten hotels in the Twin Cities area, with an additional three projects currently under construction, and another two projects in our company’s MSP development pipeline.
