CHARLESTON, SC—Leading hospitality management company Charlestowne Hotels announces the promotion of Maxwell Spangler to the newly formed role of corporate technology & systems manager. Max will now lead data and I.T. support for Charlestowne while expanding strategic portfolio-wide initiatives, including designing, developing and deploying new software and innovative technology systems.
With a strong background in hotel operations and systems programming, Max will lead Charlestowne Hotels through today’s complex, technology-driven hotel landscape. He will manage I.T. vendor contracts and analyze property data to provide solutions which improve operating efficiencies, reduce expenses, and maximize revenue. Max will also support corporate operations directors in portfolio-oversight administrative functions.
“As Charlestowne continues to grow and diversify its portfolio, we saw the need to expand our corporate team and streamline our digital optimization efforts with the addition of a technology & systems manager,” says Kyle Hughey, Charlestowne’s executive vice president and COO. “We’re confident Max will further elevate Charlestowne’s reputation for forward-thinking technology and innovation within the hotel and F&B environment.”
Max uniquely brings seven years of hospitality experience to this new technology-focused role, with the majority of his career spent working in front-of-house and corporate positions within the Charlestowne Hotels portfolio. In his most recent position as Charlestowne’s corporate operations manager, Max utilized his software engineering skills to attain optimum performance in financial reporting, strategic capital planning, and advancing technologies for a range of independent properties. Most notably, Max founded and deployed Groupify, a hospitality software application which manages and increases Charlestowne’s group business when filling guest rooms and booking function spaces, resulting in banquet revenue growth and increased profitability.
