Aimbridge Hospitality Adds voco – The Franklin New York To Portfolio
DALLAS– Aimbridge Hospitality, the leading, global, third-party hotel management company, announces it has been selected to manage vocoTM – The Franklin New York. voco is the newest upscale brand launched by IHG Hotels & Resorts, and the property’s opening is the brand’s first in the United States.
Centrally located on New York City’s Upper East Side, voco – The Franklin New York is walking distance to top destinations, including Museum Mile, Central Park, and the Madison Avenue shops. The 50-room property, originally built in 1930, has seen an extensive renovation of $3 million, or $60,000 per key, investment from its ownership, Andrew and Stephen “Chip” Weiss Jr. of Flintlock Construction and Andrew Kaplan. An additional $1 million is being spent on a destination restaurant’s buildout to open next year.
Andrew Weiss said, “It has been our privilege to restore and enhance this historic property. The hotel has been reimagined as a modern classic.” Chip Weiss added, “The renovation is an artful blend of restoration and original modern touches and state of the art electronics in the rooms. Our goal was to create an international-class hotel grounded in its local neighborhood.”
The voco brand was launched in 2018 and has grown to 15 hotels currently open in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Africa, with 23 additional properties in the global pipeline. The brand combines reliability and comfort with the charm and playfulness of a boutique hotel to create a completely unique experience. The name voco has Latin origins and means ‘to invite’ and ‘call together,’ – a perfect representation of the brand’s effortless, friendly vibes. Every guest will experience voco’s signature ‘come on in’ welcome, a swift check-in process, a regionally inspired welcome treat, and dedicated voco hosts to serve as local experts during their stay.
