Get ready to experience Best Western International’s new extended stay prototype. Attendees of this year’s HI Connect® Design® will have opportunity to experience this amazing new concept coming from the talented minds behind one of the world’s largest hotel companies.

Best Western sees remarkable growth opportunity by entering the extended stay arena, and is utilizing HI Connect®’s® unique format to provide owners and developers with a multi-sensory experience that takes attendees into this new hotel prototype. The global hotel company wants the industry to see, feel and understand this exciting new concept, so Best Western is building their own vignette portraying its new prototype in a wholly original way.

“We’re really excited about our vignette for the event. You’re truly going to get a feel for the Best Western extended stay prototype. It’s not just a peek at the lobby or a snapshot of the guest room. We used some innovative methods to take really good advantage of the space that we to put a lot of information packed into that vignette. Attendees are really going to get the ultimate experience,” says Amy Hulbert, managing director-design with Best Western International.

“You’re really going to get to see what these spaces look and feel like and there will be a couple of little surprises in there that will really expand on those and make the spaces that much more of a surprise for guests. We’re really pleased to be showcasing this and excited to be participating in HI Connect® again,” continues Hulbert. “We can’t wait to see it all come to life.”

The massively scaled HI Connect® is coming April 2-4, 2014 to the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, TN, and it will be the most revolutionary and original event of the year (www.hiconnectdesign.com).

HI Connect® provides a never-ending sense of discovery, stimulation and engagement where attendees step into myriad vignettes highlighting the vision of the industry’s top designers and leading suppliers. An amazing educational slate provides CHA and CLO recertification credits too and partnerships with Best Western, AAHOA and other leading hotel and management companies as well as ownership groups, will make this event the number one location to build your business in 2014.

“HI Connect® has afforded us a great opportunity and we are very grateful for that,” said Best Western International President and CEO David Kong.

Best Western first announced this past September an extended stay product was coming and in October at the company’s annual brand conference ran a session discussing this new concept. HI Connect® brings that vision to life and will be the first place for people to experience it in three dimensional form where developers “can kick the tires,” said Kong.

According to Kong, the extended stay prototype already has strong interest from the development community and equally important interest from the major clients of Best Western that book rooms at Best Western member hotels.

When open, Kong says the extended stay product will be slotted in the upper midscale segment because most current extended stay products are in the upscale or midscale segments. This hotel prototype will fill a market void in a segment that currently has little competitors, explains Kong.

“We aim to capture the essence of that product because of the larger rooms and amenities and because of the social interaction afforded with that product,” says Kong, noting the lobby was designed to appeal to the extended stay guest while there will be an outside “picnic” area featuring grills, television and other elements conducive to social gatherings.

Kong says there will more use of contemporary colors and textures too and an overall “more inviting atmosphere.”

“I think it is as win-win,” says Kong of the hotel concept. “People didn’t understand extended stay at first, but once they experience they like it.”
