RALEIGH, NC–-Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company, an award-winning hospitality manager and developer, announced today that it plans to open the first Homewood Suites by Hilton in Charlotte, N.C.’s Center City through a joint venture with Charlotte-based Levine Properties. The property will be located Uptown in the First Ward at the corner of East 8th and North College Streets.

The 13-story upscale, extended-stay hotel will feature 209 suites for guests, 4,000 square feet of street-level retail area, 3,500 square feet of flexible meeting and pre-function space, an expanded fitness center, a pool and a lounge with a large outdoor terrace. The property will be in close proximity to the UNC Charlotte Center City campus, Spectrum Arena, Bank of America Headquarters, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and two light rail stops that opened in March of this year.

“We are excited to break ground on this new property in the coming months,” said Grant Sabroff, senior vice president of business development at Concord Hospitality. “Uptown Charlotte’s First Ward offers a great mix of cultural, educational and sports destinations along with easy access to the city’s main business district. We look forward to introducing guests to this neighborhood.”

The new hotel will be in the same block as The Ellis, a mixed-use project being developed by LMC, a division of Lennar Corporation. The development includes 549 residential units between a 33-story high-rise and a six-story mid-rise building, an eight-story parking deck and approximately 20,000 square feet of retail space located along Market Street, fronting the Lynx Blue Line Extension.

“The vision and master plan for the First Ward includes hotels, office, residential, retail and recreation,” said Daniel Levine, president and founder of Levine Properties that owns 17 acres in the First Ward. “We could not have achieved our goal of hospitality without partners like Concord Hospitality. An extended-stay hotel is yet another milestone towards First Ward becoming a great urban neighborhood.”

The Homewood Suites by Hilton in Charlotte is slated to open in mid-2020.
