CHATTANOOGA, TN-–Vision Hospitality Group has debuted The Edwin, Chattanooga’s newest luxury boutique hotel as part of The Autograph Collection, located at 102 Walnut Street in the heart of the city’s downtown Bluff View Arts District. Steps away from the city’s iconic Walnut Street Bridge and designed by architect PV Designs, Inc. with interiors by the Chicago-based Gettys Group Inc., The Edwin boasts 90 guest rooms and suites, and celebrates local community and culture while offering highly-inspired design and caring guest service.

"Our aim is to make The Edwin a cultural hub where both visitors and locals feel drawn to experience our modern day, Southern hospitality. As a lifelong Chattanooga resident myself, we're so proud to pull from the deep-rooted history of the city to create a new destination where design, art, food and drink capture the spirit of the American South today," said Vision Hospitality Group President & CEO Mitch Patel.

The Edwin’s name is a nod to Edwin Thatcher who, in the year 1890, led the development of the historic Walnut Street Bridge that connects Chattanooga’s downtown neighborhood to today’s North Shore. The Edwin, honoring both Thatcher and the city’s “can do” spirit, is connecting visitors with the city of Chattanooga through its design, food & beverage, partnerships, and amenities.
Architecture & Design

Inspired by the connections to Chattanooga’s present and future, the design intent at The Edwin —inclusive of colors, textures and illustrations—is a unique reflection of the community and the people and places therein, embodying the hospitality and spirit of its unique Southern setting.

The interiors of The Edwin are designed to reflect unique Southern design values, combining warm, worn-in accents with a fresh, modern design. The use of vintage-style accents anchors the room and are mixed in with modern touches, bold fabrics, mid-century lighting, and sculptural accessories that create a space that is fresh yet familiar.

Lobby & Guestrooms
Inspired by the natural beauty of the Tennessee River that serves as the backdrop, The Edwin offers 90 thoughtfully designed oversized guest rooms and suites, seamlessly blending classic southern design elements with a modern, sophisticated décor that celebrates the region. Guests receive a warm welcome upon entering the hotel lobby, greeted by a contemporary sitting room, gallery and parlor.

A haven for rest and reflection, all guest rooms house an array of deliberately contrasting design details that are both familiar and surprising. The property also features four Riverfront Suites with sweeping views of the Walnut Street Bridge. All guest rooms have Murmaid customized mattresses, locally-sourced from Cleveland, Tennessee and Frette linens, in addition to Amazon Echo Dots. All suites also offer Crosley Record Players and guests are invited to borrow albums from the hotel’s listening library located on the fifth floor of the property.

Food & Beverage
The property is home to multiple food & beverage outlets, including Whitebird and Whiskey Thief, led by Executive Chef Kevin Korman. Chef Korman’s cuisine is an interpretation of elevated Southern cuisine, showcasing the heritage and hospitality of the Tennessee River Valley.

Whitebird - named for ‘Mysterious Little Whitebird’, Chattanooga founder John Ross’ Cherokee designation - is The Edwin’s signature restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A twist on regional New American cuisine, Whitebird’s progressive Appalachian menu features an abundance of ingredients sourced in partnership with local growers, artisanal producers, and sustainable farms including Crabtree Farms, a local community-focused agriculture resource, and Sequatchie Cove, a family-owned farm outside of Chattanooga. Whitebird has indoor and outdoor seating, in addition to a chef’s table and private dining area. Signature dishes include Whole Roasted “Whitebird”, a Whole Joyce Farm Heritage Poulet Rouge, Honey & Tea Lacquered Breast, and Leg & Wild Mushroom Fricassee; Rabbit & Dumplings, with braised Rabbit Ragout, ricotta gnudi, peas & carrots, soft herbs, a play on a traditional southern dish; and Edenthistle Farms Chuck Roast for 2, a Wagyu Chuck Roast, inspired by Chef Korman’s grandmother’s recipe. The spirits menu offers an array of creative cocktails ranging from classic drinks to complex concoctions such as Fall From the Tree with egg white, lemon juice, spiced syrup, aperol, Laird’s Applejack Brandy, and apple-infused pisco; and Ross’s Landing featuring Burlesque Bitters, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, orange juice, beet juice, port syrup, cynar and Chattanooga

Whiskey 1816 Cask.
Whiskey Thief, The Edwin’s rooftop whiskey bar, features extensive views of the Tennessee River and the Appalachian Mountains and Cumberland Plateau. With over 120 bottles of whiskey, Whiskey Thief offers a variety of craft cocktails such as To The People featuring Chattanooga Whiskey, aperol, Lucid Absinthe, orange bitters, Love Supreme Syrup, Blue Curacao, and topped with a flamed orange peel; and local beers on tap from breweries such as Oddstory Brewing Co., Heaven & Ale Brewing Co. and Hutton & Smith Brewing Company. Whiskey Thief also has a menu of elevated bar snacks and small plates including Poutine, featuring Veal Cheek, Crispy Kenny’s Cheddar Curds; and Smoked Wings with Kentuckyaki Caramel, Chili, and Thai Herb.
Located within the hotel lobby, Provisions features locally-sourced edible items from regional purveyors including coffee from Goodman’s Coffee, espresso from Mad Priest and cold brew from Velo. Additional partners include Muse Metta kombucha, soft drinks from Double Cola, confectioneries from The Hot Chocolatier, hot sauces from Hoff Sauce and more.

Programming & Partnerships
The Edwin offers unique guest programming from an extensive list of local and regional partners. A full roster of hotel amenities on and off property include private docent tours at the Hunter Museum of American Art, located adjacent to the property; guided tastings at Chattanooga Whiskey; and complimentary outdoor gear, including stand-up paddle boards and kayaks, from Rock/Creek.

Spa & Fitness
Located on the hotels’ ground floor, Ama (the Cherokee word for water), incorporates the healing powers of water into its extensive treatment menu. A full-service spa, Ama offers signature treatments including Lightening Whelk Renewal, an immunity-boosting, healing body treatment; Whiskey Wellness, utilizing the properties of locally-made bourbon to cleanse and revive; and Ama Purification, a full-body detoxifying treatment beginning with a sage smudging ritual; in addition to an array of massages, facials, and more.
A state-of-the-art fitness center and an outdoor plunge pool featuring three rentable cabanas is also located on the hotel’s fifth floor. In partnership with Chattanooga-based Forte Fitness, group fitness classes including yoga sessions, boot camp, and more are offered complimentary to guests.

Art Programming
The property features thought-provoking, innovative art from both established and emerging artists all based in and around Chattanooga. More than 75 pieces of artwork commissioned from 65 local artists are on exhibit throughout the hotel. Pieces represent the diversity of the Tennessee River Valley, inspired by the deep history and current culture.
