Executives taking part in Hotel Interactive®’s Lodging Industry’s Elite awards event last week in Las Vegas touted the inaugural event and its potential impact on the hospitality industry.

Taking place at MB Steak, the invite-only event brought together nearly 50 leading hotel executives as some 14 awards were doled out. A number of nominees offered their impressions of the event and expressed gratitude for the recognition.

Dave Lippert, VP, Global Design and Procurement, Marriott International, who was the recipient of the “Brand Purchasing Executive of the Year” award, commented. “I'm very proud to accept this award from Hotel Interactive®. Marriott is very proud of its relationship with Hotel Interactive® and it's very exciting to be here tonight and accept this award,” he said.

Alexandra Jaritz, Global Head, Tru by Hilton, also expressed her enthusiasm. “I'm super excited and couldn't be happier to win the “Innovator of the Year” award,” she stated.

Meanwhile, Michael Metcalf, COO, Crescent Hotels & Resorts, reflected on the company being recognized with the “Excellence In Sustainability” award for the Element by Westin in Huntsville, AL. “It's a great event; obviously a lot of industry people here. The awards are recognizing people for design, sustainability and being outstanding executives. So it's great to recognize these people for all of the work they have done. We are really excited to be included in this and very honored,” he said.

Robert Burg, President and COO, Aimbridge Hospitality, which was nominated for “Owner/Operator of the Year” award, noted: “Whenever you’re nominated by your peers it's a very powerful statement. We are proud of ourselves for what we have accomplished. This wasn't our ultimate intention to be where we are today so it was quite a surprise to be nominated and we are very honored. Whenever you have an opportunity to get a lot of industry professionals together and talk about best-of-class processes and the way that they operate their hotel and how to make us better, there’s nothing better than you can have than that,” he said.

Nicole Wood, VP, Summa International, who was nominated for the “Purchasing Executive of the Year,” was impressed with the event. “I'm excited to be here because I was nominated and look at the turn out; there are great people behind us. I'm with some of the top industry leaders and flattered to have been nominated at this great event,” she said.

Mark Hemmer, COO, Vesta Hospitality—which received the “Most Unique Hotel Conversion” for Riverhouse on the Deschutes in Bend, OR—shared his thoughts. “We're excited to be here because it's a great honor to receive an award like this. What it can do for the company and what it can do for our positioning is awesome,” he said.

Andrew Fay, VP, Gettys Group, was appreciative of receiving the “Most Impactful Repositioning of the Year” for the Chicago Lincolnshire Marriott. “I could not be more thrilled to accept this award on behalf of not only the team at the Gettys, but our fabulous partners, the ownership group and all the magnificent team members at the hotel,” he said.

Ghee Alexander of Prism Hotels & Resorts, which was awarded “Owner/Operator of the Year,” as well as “Best Experiential Hotel” for the El Conquistador Tucson, shared his feelings on the latter award. “This has been such an amazing evening and what an honor it is to get this award. It truly plays into everything we have done for the resort over the last few years and I'm certainly very honored and humble,” he said.
