Schwartz is not just a PhD but also the Director, Center for Gaming Research, at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, an amazing historian as well as the author of several books including Roll The Bones, which is a history of gambling since the dawn of time and his newest, Grandissimo: The First Emperor of Las Vegas, the story of Caesars Palace developer Jay Sarno.
    Glenn and David speak about how a nice guy from Jersey winds up with a job like this, some history highlights of Las Vegas such as the life of the aforementioned Jay Sarno, the current state of Las Vegas, the explosive growth of the downtown revolution, and most important what is in store for the future of Sin City. They even chat about the downturn in Atlantic City and the global gaming scene.

The Minds of Marriott Design - 1/24/2014
Marriott International has been rethinking the look, feel and experience of its mother-ship Marriott Hotel brand. And on the January 24, 2014 show we’re taking a deep look at the process the company has gone through to plan this new generation of hotels.

  • Plus this interview sets the stage for the company’s major participation in the upcoming HI Connect® Design event taking place April 2-4, 2014. Marriott has selected this game changing event over all other industry wide shows to debut the all new look and feel of Marriott Hotels.

Caesars' New Strategy - 5/19/2014
Editor in Chief Glenn Haussman is in Las Vegas exploring some of the newest elements in the city created by Caesars Entertainment and there are some very good lessons to be learned in this show.

  • First up we speak to Jon Gray, the VP/ General Manager of The Linq, a brand new district linking – of course – the Flamingo and The Quad with major new shopping, dining and entertainment options such as that massive new 550-foot tall observation reel. Glenn apologizes for being so effusive but sometimes he gets giddy when seeing a project that just makes so much sense! Here you’ll learn the history of the project and how it’s playing into current consumer trends.
    Then Glenn hoofs it over to Las Vegas’ ‘newest’ hotel, The Crowell. Which is opening in phases through Memorial Day. The former Bills Gambling Saloon is now a 188-room luxury hotel and we learn all about this getting smaller strategy in a city formally known for bigger is better. But smaller is smarter these days and we learn all about how this hotel plays into the latest trends from VP/ General Manager Karie Hall.
    We also get Hall’s insight on what it’s like to be a female executive in the male dominated casino business and she gives amazing insight on how to not get caught under that glass ceiling. You won’t want to miss this one!


Hampton’s Ideal Getaway and A Look at Hilton Extended Stay - 8/15/2014
This week Glenn is focusing on a couple of great interviews from the executives at Hilton worldwide.

  • First up is Judy Christa-Cathey, VP, Focused Service Brand Marketing, Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Hotels. This is a great interview focusing on how people are wasting away their lives doing chores rather than spending time with family. We take a deep look at a new survey tied around Hampton’s Embrace Your Weekend Self campaign and how they are tying the survey to a great new marketing campaign that encourages people to take a special quiz determining the city that they should visit.     Then we chat with Bill Duncan, global head, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton to go over Home2’s and discuss Homewood’s expansion, the extended-stay market and new initiatives Hilton is rolling out for the brands on the consumer side.
