Liberty Group and Starwood Hotels are proud to announce that the Aloft Tampa Downtown has made its debut in the heart of downtown Tampa, Florida, following a two-year adaptive re-use project that has transformed the former Mercantile Bank office building into the city's hippest hotel.

Owned and managed by the Liberty Group in a joint-venture partnership with Convergent Capital Partners, Aloft Tampa Downtown is designed for the next generation of travelers with 130 spacious, loft-like rooms, forward-thinking technology and a vibrant, social atmosphere. Boasting an unique location on Tampa's Riverwalk, it is the brand's first hotel on Florida's Gulf Coast.

"Aloft Tampa Downtown will mirror the energy and excitement of downtown Tampa and appeal to savvy travelers with its urban design aesthetic, live music at the W XYZ bar, and easy access to leading attractions," said Brian McGuinness, Senior Vice President, Specialty Select Brands for Starwood. "Adaptive re-use projects represent an important growth channel for Aloft, allowing us to enter even more markets, more quickly as we rapidly approach the brand's 100th hotel milestone."

Located along the Hillsborough River and the new Tampa Riverwalk, Aloft Tampa Downtown is walking distance to the University of Tampa, Tampa Convention Center, University of South Florida's new CAMLS facility, Tampa Times Forum, Tampa Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa History Museum, Curtis Hixon Park, Florida Aquarium, and the Port of Tampa. Hotel amenities include the Aloft brand's signature W XYZ®bar located adjacent to the waterfront pool and a 24-hour fitness center. Aloft Tampa Downtown also features flexible meeting space and outdoor terrace along Riverwalk in the heart of Tampa's bustling financial district.

"We are excited to have brought this incredibly dynamic brand to downtown Tampa, and have thoughtfully designed the hotel to embrace the vibrance of the city. Aloft Tampa Downtown showcases our spectacular location providing an unparalleled experience to guests while ensuring local residents enjoy our creative atmosphere and distinct culture as well," stated Punit Shah, Chief Executive Officer of the Liberty Group.

The Aloft brand's innovative and exclusive initiatives set it apart. Aloft Hotels recently announced that select properties will roll out Smart Check In, allowing guests to use their smartphones to check in to the hotel and open their guestroom door, bypassing the front desk. In addition, Aloft Hotels offers live, free access to local emerging artists as well as some of the hottest bands with Live at Aloft Hotels programming at the W XYZ® bars.
