Manager Appointed for Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West

M&R Hotel Management, operator of 10 New York hotels, today announced the promotion of Tracey Rucks to general manager of the 177-room Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West at 538 W. 48th St.

Rucks, a 10-year hospitality industry veteran who has managed hotels in Indiana, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, will oversee operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting.

Prior to joining M&R Hotel Management, Rucks was general manager of the Holiday Inn Indianapolis Carmel in Indianapolis, Indiana. From 2010 to 2014, she was general manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Fifth Avenue in New York. From 2008 to 2009, she was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Edison/Raritan Center in Edison, New Jersey, and from 2007 to 2008, she was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Danbury in Connecticut.

In 2007, Rucks was an area director of sales for Alliance Hospitality, a hotel owner and management company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she oversaw sales strategy for nine hotels representing four brands. From 2006-2007, Rucks was general manager of the former Holiday Inn Tinton Falls-Eatontown in New Jersey.

As Alliance Hospitality’s area director of revenue management from 2004-2006, she helped develop and lead a training course required for general managers and sales managers.
Rucks has been certified as a general manager by InterContinental Hotels Group, Hilton Worldwide and Marriott International. She prides herself on being able to develop talent and foster a sense of engagement among employees.

Rucks earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts, and a fire safety director certificate of fitness from the New York City Fire Department. She is a member of the Professional Women’s Business Association.

The Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West features a mix of king, queen and double rooms, 24-hour fitness and business centers and guest laundry. Complimentary amenities include Express Start hot breakfast, Wi-Fi throughout the building, bottled water and daily newspaper.

The hotel is near the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Times Square, the Broadway theater district and world-class shopping and restaurants. The hotel is 3 1/2 blocks from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, making it a convenient choice for pre- and post-cruise visits to the Big Apple.

The hotel is one of three M&R properties in Manhattan, including the 89-room Comfort Inn Midtown West at 548 West 48th St. and the 132-room Holiday Inn NYC – Lower East Side at 150 Delancey St.

M&R Hotel Management, based in Great Neck, also owns and operates four hotels near John F. Kennedy International Airport, one near LaGuardia Airport and three in Manhattan. M&R’s portfolio includes the brands of InterContinental Hotels Group, Choice Hotels International, Wyndham Hotel Group and Best Western International. In addition, Marriott International, Hilton Worldwide, Hyatt Hotels Corp. and Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide have certified M&R to manage selected brands.
