The Aloft brand has officially become part of the Georgia hospitality scene with the grand opening yesterday of the Aloft Downtown Atlanta. The 254-room, 10-floor property -- which is owned by DeBartolo Development and managed by Banyan Investment Group -- becomes the first Aloft Hotel in the state and the largest Aloft Hotel in the southeast for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
The grand opening ceremonies included brief remarks by Paige Francis, Vice President of Global Marketing for Starwood; Michael Weems, Vice President for DeBartolo Development; and Lloyd Crabtree, Senior Vice President of Operations for Banyan Investment Group.
There was also a 30-minute concert performance by 28 year-old rock/pop singer-songwriter Mikey Wax, whose new self-titled album was released on June 10 and is currently on the iTunes Top 100 pop chart.
The new Aloft hotel is immediately adjacent to the Atlanta Merchandise Mart. Amenities include the “W XYZ® bar” featuring neon lights and live musical performances; the “re:mix” lounge; an outdoor “backyard” with “Splash” swimming pool; a 24-hour fitness center; and more than 2,500 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space for business and social events.
“Our hotel offers a dramatic new option for travelers who are coming to downtown Atlanta for business or for leisure -- in one of the area’s most convenient, accessible locations,” explains Banyan’s Lloyd Crabtree.
DeBartolo Development is one of the country’s most prominent, most successful, and most respected privately-owned real estate development firms.
Banyan Investment Group is a privately-owned hotel investment company which operates a portfolio of almost 20 properties.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts introduced the Aloft brand in 2005 and currently operates 81 Aloft locations in the United States and around the world.
