JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Jo Ferrazza as the resort’s director of experience. Ferrazza is responsible for overseeing the resort leisure activities, including operations of the six-acre River Bluff Water Experience and highly acclaimed Lantana Spa. Her goal is to provide unique and original recreation that relaxes, rejuvenates, and energizes all visitors.
Building on her extensive event knowledge, Ferrazza is transforming JW Marriott San Antonio’s activities into on-site events that become part of each guest’s traditions and memories. From ballet lessons and barre classes, to organic garden tours and PGA TOUR Academy junior golf camps, guests can partake in activities that will introduce them to new interests or delve deeper into hobbies they already love.
“Resort recreation programs provide our guests the opportunity to use their creativity, expand their minds, and explore their personal talents, no matter what their age,“ Ferrazza said. “Our goal is to create experiences that will be cherished for a lifetime.”
New to the resort’s Range Rider Kids’ Club this summer is an exclusive partnership with the San Antonio Metropolitan Ballet Company offering a Prima Ballerina Day for junior resort guests. Led by company choreographer Karin Connolly, this special package includes a tutu, tiara, wand and ballet slipper socks. The experience will include floor stretches, basic barre exercises and a short dance that will be taught for parent demonstration.
For the health conscious, there are new complimentary exercise classes including Booty Barre®. A certified instructor will guide guests through this latest trend in group exercise, designed to be the perfect combination of strength and flexibility exercises with added cardio to burn fat fast. For the sport enthusiast, the Get Golf Fit exercise class will be offered this fall and is led by a certified Golf Fitness specialist and designed specifically to improve consistency and distance and lower scores.
Ferrazza is already looking towards the holidays and plans to transform the resort into a seasonal wonderland. JW Illuminations, the resort’s choreographed music and light show will dazzle guests and local visitors nightly with more than 200,000 twinkling lights in the gardens. Tinsel, the resort’s holiday elf ambassador will lead special Story Time events. Other activities will include Elf Tuck-Ins, Breakfast with Santa & Mrs. Claus, and the Polar Plunge challenge.
Prior to joining JW Marriott San Antonio, Ferrazza served as director of event management at Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach and was part of the reopening leadership team responsible for implementing a new event planning and operations department. Ferrazza also served as director of event management at Renaissance Chicago Hotel for eight years where she managed operations.
“We are committed to offering our guests new and exciting activities each season,” General Manager of JW Marriott San Antonio Arthur Coulombe said. “Mary Jo Ferrazza’s expertise and personal creativity will make a significant impact and 2014 promises to be an exciting year of new offerings.”
