Intelity, the first company to make hotel guest services available on guest room tablets and on guests’ personal connected devices, has released an upgraded version of its trademarked guest services software, ICE (Interactive Customer Experience™), that will make it easier for hotel brands and individual properties to offer guests a mobile app experience.
The app is being offered at introductory pricing and includes a menu built from over 40 different hotel services that enables guests to interact with hotels in a variety of ways through their personal mobile devices, including checking in or out, ordering room service, making housekeeping requests, leaving digital comment cards, and even communicating preferences and requests to the hotel’s concierge before arrival at the property.
Additional features include an app reminder that encourages guests to use the app during their stay and push notifications that use geo-location technology to message targeted guests near or on hotel premises. Geofencing makes the hotel operator aware of when and where their guests are en route to the hotel. In addition, all guest requests are seamlessly integrated into the many hotel systems to create a completely efficient experience.
“We developed this new version of ICE Mobile because we’ve witnessed a growing need in the travel and hospitality industries for improved strategy as it relates to mobile technology, ” said David Adelson, Intelity President and CEO. “It’s now normal for travelers to bring multiple mobile devices with them and expect to incorporate them into every aspect of their experience, from planning a trip to checking in for a flight to exploring a foreign city. These expectations don’t stop at the front door of their hotel.”
The release coincides with the emergence of a variety of new types of mobile technologies that hotels and other technology companies are aggressively looking to take advantage of, including Near-Field Communications and wearable technology such as Google Glass. A direct move to target the popularity of mobile technology in the travel and hospitality sectors is the Google app’s new hotel search capability that allows travelers to use filters to find options for lodging.
Adelson said, “We’re seeing headlines about investments by companies such as Google and many major hotel brands into fulfilling the mobile needs of the travel industry, and it’s very telling and exciting as we have been providing these solutions for years. A hotel without a mobile app is at a disadvantage to competitors who have embraced this trend. We want to empower these hotels to leverage mobile technology without significant financial investment.”
Intelity first released ICE in 2009 and has since installed it in hotels across the world in 76 countries and over 1,000 hotels. The platform is unique in that it fully integrates with the hotel’s back-end management systems, including PMS, POS, Ticketing, Spa and Room Controls, which allows for tracking of guest requests through to fulfillment and provides data analysis tools for management insight.
