Executives with national general contracting firm Hyphen Construction Group, Inc. have announced that hospitality veteran Roger Summers has joined the company as director of business development and will open a new office for the dynamic company in the Kansas City area. Hyphen Construction is a national, hospitality focused, general contracting firm based in North Texas. The company’s projects range from full service to economy brand and boutique hotels.

“We’ve built a world-class team with tremendous experience in the hospitality industry,” said Dinesh Chandiramani, CEO of Hyphen Construction. “We’re very pleased to add a superstar of Roger’s stature to our group. His experience and talents can help accelerate Hyphen Construction’s growth in the Midwest.”

Summers is one of the most recognizable and successful leaders in the hospitality construction industry. He came to Hyphen from Key Construction, where he was director of business development.

“Hotel construction is truly unique,” said Summers. “Few firms specialize in hospitality construction and far fewer do it well. Hyphen has demonstrated that it understands the hotel business, hotel owners and most of all, hotel construction. As a long time industry veteran, this is a natural fit.”

Hyphen, which has been in business since 2008, began as a hotel renovation contractor. In recent years, it has become well known for new construction.

“While the hospitality industry has gone through several boom and bust cycles, the need for hotel renovations will always continue,” said Chandiramani. “Many of our clients are currently building properties, which is why Hyphen expects to break ground on at least seven hotels this year. However, we are still accepting renovation projects, too.”

Summers will work out of Hyphen’s new Kansas City office.
“Hyphen Construction Group has always been a national contractor, but opening a second office in the Kansas City area will dramatically expand its footprint and reach,” said Summers. “This will give the company significantly more ability to secure projects in the Midwest. I’m excited to join the executive team of one of the most successful and innovative construction groups in this country.”
