The Charles Hotel, The Smart Place to Stay, located in the heart of Harvard Square, announced the appointment of industry veteran David Taylor as Director of Sales and Marketing.
In his new role as Director of Sales and Marketing, Taylor will create and oversee the hotel’s annual sales and marketing plans, coordinate sales activities throughout the hotel, work to maximize hotel revenue and expand corporate accounts, analyze the competition and develop marketing and sales campaigns. With nearly 20 years of experience both nationally and internationally, Taylor will guide The Charles current sales initiatives while maintaining the eclecticism experience of the Cambridge hotel.
“My career has been built on cultivating and maintaining successful relationships and creating unique marketing initiatives, I’m thrilled to join The Charles Hotel, a place that has a served as a home away from home for guests all around the world for over 25 years,” said Taylor.
Most recently, Taylor was the Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Harwich, Massachusetts. Prior to that, he spent ten years in New York City in roles including Director of Sales and Marketing at The Ritz-Carlton Central Park and The St. Regis hotels, giving him a unique perspective on hotel management and operations, as well as solid insight into city travel markets on the east coast.

Taylor attended Hocking College where he studied Hotel Management and later received a Business Administration degree from Ohio University. Taylor also received special training from Boston University for professional education and negotiation skills and Cornell University for executive education. He was the president of NYC&Co. signature collection from 2005 to 2012 and he was awarded the outstanding achievement in sales and marketing award from The American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.
