A $40 million top-to-bottom rejuvenation is planned for the Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel, which is centrally located in the heart of the city’s financial, sports and entertainment epicenter.
The reimagined hotel will be a centerpiece of The Bloc, a nearly two million-square-foot retail, office and hospitality international destination to be anchored by a flagship Macy's department store. Upon completion, it will be the largest single asset mixed-use property in the City of Los Angeles.
The comprehensive hotel transformation will include all 495 guest rooms, meeting and public space, as well as the restaurant and lounge. McCARTAN, an award-winning design company based in New York City, is spearheading the interior design, beginning with the guest rooms.
Each luxuriously appointed guest room will feature the signature Sheraton Sweet Sleeper ® Bed, a large flat screen television, in-room safe, refrigerator and new carpeting and furniture, plus a backlit working desk with task lighting paired with an ergonomic chair. Bathrooms will feature new marble tile, large under counter sinks, tubs with showers, lighted mirrors, Sheraton bath amenities and bathrobes.
State-of-the art integrated technology for each room incorporates a wireless radio-frequency identification (RFID) communication platform to let guests bypass the front desk to check in remotely via their PC or web-enabled mobile devices, and wireless high speed Internet access.
Located on preferred floors, newly renovated Sheraton Club guest rooms afford panoramic city views and complimentary access to the new Club Lounge. A relaxing, upscale space, the Club Lounge offers complimentary breakfast, afternoon hors d’oeuvres and a variety of beverage options.
The hotel’s 26,000 square feet of transformed flexible indoor and outdoor event space and many new amenities will include a swimming pool for everyone, plus an outdoor spa and cabanas on the third floor, along with adjacent meeting space for social and corporate clients wanting easy access to the pool area. Food and beverage service will be available.
A variety of new dining choices will accommodate the needs of guests in the hotel and the new eateries to be located in the adjacent mall, where a convenient new Metro subway station will serve visitors, local residents and business commuters.
“Some very exciting changes are taking place at our hotel that will create a more inviting atmosphere for our guests to relax or connect with friends, family and colleagues,” said General Manager Jonathan Litvack. “We want to assure everyone that we will make this transition as easy and worry-free as possible, and look forward to making our guests feel comfortable and connected.”
Located within walking distance of award-winning Los Angeles Convention Center, Staples Center and LA Live, the Sheraton has more than 26,000 square feet of multi-use meeting space, a complimentary fitness facility, lobby bar and extensive dining options. The hotel embraces environmentally friendly practices, including recycling, an opt-out program for changing sheets and towels, low-flush toilets and energy-efficient light bulbs.
The Ratkovich Company, in partnership with National Real Estate Advisors and Blue Vista Capital Management, is developing The Bloc.
