The U.S. Travel AssociationPresident and CEO Roger Dow issued the following statement on the Senate's voteto confirm Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson:

"Secretary Johnson'svast experience in large government agencies should prove invaluable inoverseeing one of the most pivotal and complex cabinet departments. Travel hasbeen one of the bright spots of the recovery, adding jobs faster than the rest ofthe economy, but sustaining that progress is dependent upon well-functioningagencies like the Transportation Security Administration and Customs and BorderProtection. The travel community looks forward to continuing our productiverelationship with the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Johnson, and we have every expectation that he will continue to build upon the recentrecord of innovative policies that have simultaneously improved security andthe travel experience.

"We further urge theCongress to expedite consideration of CBP nominee Gil Kerlikowske, to give CBPpermanent leadership at a critical time for travel."

The U.S. Travel Associationis the national, non-profit organization representing all components of thetravel industry that generates $2.0 trillion in economic output and supports14.6 million jobs. U.S. Travel's mission is to increase travel to and withinthe United States.
