Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa announces the completion of the Kou Ballroom, a 3,087 square foot meetings and events space located on the second floor of the Diamond Head Tower. The ballroom, named Kou (“yours” in Hawaiian) to make guests feel like the space is truly their own, began construction in June 2013.
“I am delighted by the fact that we have created a space that is a true reflection of Waikiki – it is both modern and welcoming at the same time,” said David Nadelman, Area Vice President, Hawaii at Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach. “The ballroom features the technology and amenities meeting planners expect, and the banquet menu complements our island locale by offering ingredients fresh from Hawaiian farms. This really is a venue that meets all event and destination needs.”
The expertly designed catering menu is a defining characteristic of the ballroom. Executive Chef Sven Ullrich has designed a sustainable and locally-focused menu featuring restaurant-quality food with reasonable portions, ensuring creative and healthy menu options for meetings and event attendees.
“Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach is thrilled to promote Hyatt’s food philosophy of Food. Thoughtfully Sourced. Carefully Served not only in our restaurants, but on our banquet menu as well,” remarked Catherine Johns, Director of Catering and Convention Services for the resort. “Our goal is for guests to feel energized and refreshed by our menu offerings, as well as connected to the Hawaiian culture through the use of fresh, local ingredients.”
The ballroom’s distinct details, designed by architecture firm Seifert Murphy, provide for a fresh and modern atmosphere for successful meetings and events, while also maintaining an authentic sense of Hawaiian spirit. Coral stone and porcelain tile elements complement the ballroom’s custom-designed carpet, sculptural wall art, and wood finish, creating a stylish and comfortable atmosphere for both corporate meetings and social events. The ballroom also features a Lutron intelligent lighting system, Sharp flat screen television, Creston touch screens and keypads, and a Sony projector, positioning it as one of the most visually appealing and user-friendly hotel venues on Oahu.
