The Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau (AOCVCB) recently selected industry veteran Mindy Abel for the position of Senior Vice President, Strategy and Development. Abel has been with the AOCVCB for 19 years in a variety of sales positions and was most recently Senior Vice President of Sales for the past five years.
Abel will be transitioning to this newly created role within the organization in October 2013. The Vice President of Strategy and Development’s main function is to cultivate tactics to enhance Anaheim’s meeting destination infrastructure, while expanding economic and product development opportunities. In addition to these functions, Abel will be engaged with key meeting industry groups to increase Anaheim’s visibility as a major meeting site and develop strategies with meeting industry associations.
“This new position provides us with an opportunity to play a key role in the destination’s architecture, and strategically build for our future,” stated Jay Burress, President and CEO, Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “I am very optimistic that our retooled organizational structure, with Mindy in this position, is poised to hit the ground running.”
Junior Tauvaa, previously Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships with Meeting Professional International (MPI) and its Foundation, will fill Abel’s previous position, with the expanded title of Senior Vice President of Convention Sales and Meeting Solutions.
