Best Western International has announced the addition of three new hotels to the brand’s West African portfolio and with eight properties open, and five additional hotels in the pipeline, the World’s Biggest Hotel Family® plans to have more than 1,300 rooms in West Africa.

The newest additions to the Best Western hotel family are the BEST WESTERN PLUS Ajuji Hotel in Abuja, Nigeria and the BEST WESTERN Starfire Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria, giving the brand six hotels in Africa’s most populous country. Best Western also announced the addition of the BEST WESTERN PLUS Atlantic Hotel in industrial and commercial hub of Takoradi, Ghana.

“We see West Africa as one of the global hotbeds for hotel development and these three exciting new properties are a major step forward in our efforts to expand throughout that region,” said Best Western’s Vice President of International Operations Suzi Yoder. “Best Western can offer developers a globally recognized brand and the flexibility of three unique hotel types - BEST WESTERN, BEST WESTERN PLUS and BEST WESTERN PREMIER – which we believe gives us a leg up when it comes to expanding into emerging African markets.”

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Ajuji Hotel is the brand’s second PLUS hotel in Nigeria and the first Best Western in the country’s capital city. The 104-room property is located in the new Gudu District, after the Legislative Quarters in Apo, with a direct link access to the Central Business District and Abuja Domestic Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport. With three halls and two meeting rooms, the hotel is gradually becoming a preferred venue for meetings and events because of its serene location. The hotel boasts a prime position for exploring Abuja’s historic and cultural sites, including the National Mosque, the Ecumenical Centre, Millennium Park and Abuja Arts and Craft Village, making it the perfect base for all visitors to Nigeria’s capital.

The BEST WESTERN Starfire Hotel in located in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria and is adjacent to the city’s large shopping district. The property boasts 40 stylishly-appointed bedrooms of contemporary design with a touch of African elegance, featuring 24 Standard Rooms, 14 Superior Rooms and two Junior Suites. The hotel is 100% non-smoking and has a 24-hour full-service restaurant offering Continental and African cuisines. Breakfast, WiFi and car parking are complimentary to all guests. Other facilities include a Fitness Room, an Outdoor Pool and a Gift Shop.
