MBH Architects has appointed Klas Eklöf and Oliver Mellows to Principals of the firm. This announcement comes soon after MBH was listed as the fifth largest architecture firm in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times.
Klas Eklöf is a California licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional, and former Senior Associate, who will now take a central leadership role at MBH as Principal. With more than 18 years of experience with commercial buildings, multi-family housing, master planning, and historical renovations among other projects, Eklöf brings a noted skillset to the firm. “Klas is the next generation of leaders in this company,” explains MBH Architects’ Founding Principal Dennis Heath. “His knowledge of the profession and his insight into directions that we can grow make it incredibly exciting to have him as a partner going forward.”
MBH is also proud to announce that Oliver Mellows, Controller and Director of the Accounting and Administration Departments, and former Senior Associate, will take on the title of Principal of those same departments. Mellows, who has been with MBH for 13 years, has worn many hats thanks to his background in both accounting and business administration. “As soon as Oli got into the office, he began learning at an exponential rate and proving how valuable he is to our company,” explains Heath. “We knew we wanted him to be a partner with us moving into the future, so he could be an even stronger leader in this organization. Simply put, Oli is the sort of guy you want on your team.”
The appointments of Eklöf and Mellows are an important step in MBH’s continued growth. “Both Oli and Klas have routinely exhibited the passion, the integrity, and the energy that defines the future leaders of this company,” says Founding Principal John McNulty. With approximately 155 full-time employees, MBH believes that the best architectural solutions are born from collaboration of a team who are empowered and inspired.
