With a hotel career that spans nearly 30 years, Mr. Ian Pullan has been appointed the new General Manager for the InterContinental Boston, a 424-room Four Diamond AAA-rated luxury waterfront hotel with 32,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, effective June 3, 2013. Crossing the continent from his former General Manager’s position at The Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver, British Columbia, Mr. Pullan leaves Canada’s West Coast for the U.S.’ East Coast city of Boston joining the InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts brand. He takes over the reins from former InterContinental Boston General Manager Timothy Kirwan, who will continue his relationship with InterContinental Hotels Group as Director of Business Development, Boston.

Mr. Pullan is a seasoned hotelier bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience and new perspective to InterContinental Boston. His past senior operations positions with several prominent international hotel companies will serve him well as he leads the team at InterContinental Boston.

A graduate of the Galway Hotel School in Ireland, Mr. Pullan began his hotel career in 1990 with Conrad Hotels first in Ireland then in St. Martin in the French West Indies. Subsequently, he held several management roles throughout the United States with Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Omni Hotels & Resorts. He moved back to Ireland in 1998 to work for the Jurys Doyle Hotel Group and in 1999 Mr. Pullan joined Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and served in director level positions at properties in Bermuda and Toronto, Canada. He was promoted to General Manager and headed The Fairmont Kansas City at The Plaza and The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii. Five years later he joined The Fairmont Waterfront, Vancouver where he led the team as General Manager prior to his recent move to Boston. Mr. Pullan is an accomplished marathoner, which satisfies his passion for healthy active living. He was recently featured in a Boston Globe article that highlighted training tips on how to stay fit while traveling. As the General Manager of The Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver, Mr. Pullan took guests on guided morning runs, twice weekly, along the seawall in nearby Stanley Park.
