The I.A.C.C.-certified Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center, one of the nation’s first dedicated conference center hotels, has introduced a new, green, and very 21st Century guest service -- electric car changing.  The award-winning, historic property is set within an elegant century-old manor house on Long Island’s legendary North Shore Gold Coast – the setting for F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic, The Great Gatsby. Glen Cove Mansion’s new electric car charging service is complimentary to overnight guests of the hotel.

“As electric cars become less of a novelty and more widely used, The Mansion had been receiving requests for a charging station from our meeting and leisure guests,” said Ata Kashanian, Vice President and General Manager.  “We decided this service was not only a great response to guests’ requests, but quite likely the future as more electric cars role off assembly lines and the greening of public consciousness continues.”

Recent guest, Lars Thomsen, agrees.  “I believe that a few years from now every hotel will have EV-charging service as a standard – just like WiFi today.  But for now, I think it is a clear statement to innovative and environmentally-orientated customers," said Mr. Thomsen.  "I pick my hotels by this feature as my first priority now.  In the US about 400 more new Tesla Model S electric sedans are delivered to customers every month – all of which will be looking for premium hotels with charging sometime in the future."

Glen Cove Mansion’s new service required little investment – just a NEMA 14-50 outlet and a proper cable.  In December of last year, Forbes magazine stated that electric car sales had hit another record the month before
