Patrick Birchall has been named to the position of General Manager of the Willard InterContinental and Regional Director of Operations for Mid Atlantic, effective January 2013.
With over two decades experience with InterContinental hotels around the world, Patrick brings to the Willard strong industry knowledge within the luxury hospitality sector. His background centers on a balanced approach toward hotel operations, guest experience and mentorship of talented employees.
Born in Finland to a British father and Finnish mother, Patrick grew up following in his father’s “hotelier” footsteps. The family lived in several different countries and Patrick attended the American schools of Rio de Janeiro and Paris.
Patrick most recently held the position of General Manager for the Five Diamond AAA and Four Mobil Star InterContinental Atlanta, since 2008. Prior to this, he served as General Manager of the Presidente InterContinental Mexico City from 2003 through 2008. Patrick was Resident Manager of the InterContinental Paris from 2000 to 2003, achieving the hotel’s highest ever guest satisfaction score in 2002. This post was preceded by his positions as Hotel Manager for the iconic Le Grand InterContinental Paris and General Manager at the InterContinental Managua, Nicaragua.
Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree from Rollins College in Florida and his Master’s degree from Thunderbird University in Arizona. Over the course of his career, he served on the Board of Directors of a variety of hospitality and chamber of commerce organizations including the Georgia Hotel & Lodging Association and the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of GHLA Governmental Affairs Committee member and maintains memberships in the international Skal Club and Chaine de Rôtisseurs. Patrick is married and the proud father of three sons.
