BLUECOAST has just completed furnishing the new Westin Playa Bonita in Panama. With over 20 years' experience in bringing high-end casegoods and seating to luxury hotels and restaurants, BLUECOAST was chosen by Design Atelier to provide custom furnishings for this stunning tropical property, one of the latest additions to the Westin collection.
BLUECOAST worked with Design Atelier to deliver a seamless design concept throughout this massive property, from the lobby to the guestrooms. The design inspiration came from the coastal location of the property, which is one of the only Panama City hotels with a sandy beach front. To achieve a natural, beach-inspired aesthetic, BLUECOAST designed custom woven resin armchairs, loomed wicker desk chairs, and sofas and ottomans with a wood base. The furnishings complement the natural fibers and muted palette of the guestrooms. BLUECOAST also designed furnishings for the Westin’s restaurants, including custom side chairs for Asiana and Tierra del Fuego, barstools and lounge chairs with beech wood frame for the Oasis bar, and woven resin armchairs for the Pacifica restaurant patio. BLUECOAST’s deft use of sustainable materials made their furnishings a perfect choice for the Westin brand’s focus on eco-sensitive design and practices.
Set on the coast just outside Panama City, the Westin Playa Bonita opened in January 2012. This 611-room high-rise houses the largest conference and banquet facility in the country. Located near the city on one side, the rainforest on the other, and fronted by the Pacific Ocean, the Westin Playa Bonita offers full resort services just steps away from Panama’s rich urban culture as well as its natural treasures.
