Hampton Inn Batesville, located in Southeast Indiana and part of the award-winning Hampton brand, has completed a large-scale sustainability project through The Refinishing Touch’s furniture asset management solutions. The Refinishing Touch completed on-site furniture refinishing to case goods in 66 rooms at the Batesville location, restoring the original condition of wardrobes, desks, nightstands, headboards, bathroom vanities and luggage benches.

The Refinishing Touch is a globally recognized provider of furniture asset management services, including refinishing, re-upholstering and armoire modification, for the hospitality, higher education and government industries. The refinishing project was completed on-site using non-toxic lacquers with low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), maintaining indoor air quality and ensuring safety. Hampton Inn Batesville saved 92.5 percent in budget costs by refinishing, when compared to buying new furniture – reducing the project’s total from more than $330,000 to just over $25,000. Through refinishing its furniture assets, the hotel also decreased its estimated carbon footprint, or amount of projected greenhouse gas emissions, from 96.4964 tons of carbon dioxide to 0.9548.

In addition to The Refinishing Touch’s services, Hampton Inn Batesville has implemented other eco-friendly initiatives. The hotel offers a towel and linen reuse program and has installed indoor faucet aerators, maximizing overall water efficiency. The hotel has also invested in energy efficient light bulbs, uses compostable ‘Enviroware’ plastic ware at its breakfast bar, and provides recycling bins throughout the establishment.

Mary Ann Hart, general manager of Hampton Inn Batesville, said: “We were looking for an alternative to replacing our furniture, since the case goods were high-quality and liked amongst our staff. The Refinishing Touch was the perfect choice, preserving our existing assets while saving over $300,000 in budget costs. Not only did they help us with our sustainability efforts and bottom line, but the production crew was very understanding and took our needs into account. The Refinishing Touch’s on-site capabilities allowed for our furniture pieces to be refinished as rooms became vacant, ensuring our property could operate as normal. It was a quick and painless process that I would recommend to any hotel owner, and we’ve continued to receive positive feedback from our staff and guests.”
