Mushroom Networks, Inc., innovators of Broadband Bonding™ technology, today announced that Chaminade Resort & Spa deployed its technology to boost Internet speed and reliability for guests and solve key connectivity issues due to the resort’s unique location.
Chaminade, located in the mountainous region of Santa Cruz, California, is a luxurious destination that recently went through a $15 million dollar renovation. Although the resort boasts some of the finest amenities in Northern California, its Internet service was spotty and unreliable due to its location.
Gunnar Amundson, IT manager for Chaminade noted, “The main problem with our wireless WAN was lack of redundant paths. When there was an equipment failure we had no Internet service and had to wait for the repair to restore service for our guests.”
Service options for Chaminade were limited; the resort was too far for DSL and although fiber optic service was available it was extremely expensive to deploy, especially for complimentary Internet access.
Chaminade opted to implement a Truffle Broadband Bonding device, a new technology from Mushroom Networks that aggregates multiple Internet access lines of any type into a single high-speed connection. Using Truffle, Chaminade bonded three business grade WAN circuits to maximize available bandwidth while delivering near 100 percent uptime for guests. When compared to the price of fiber, Broadband Bonding provided a much quicker return on investment.
“Traditionally, hotels and resorts have very limited choices when it comes to Internet service for guests,” stated Dr. Cahit Akin, CEO of Mushroom Networks. “In many cases fiber is much too expensive and a single DSL or cable line is simply not enough to support operations. Truffle solved a critical issue for Chaminade while giving them the ability to scale bandwidth based on immediate need.”
