The Gettysburg Hotel is about to undergo a multi-million dollar renovation with completion slated for early spring.  Established in 1797 and owned by Gettysburg College, the Gettysburg Hotel’s renovations aim to strengthen the hotel’s position as an upscale hotel, while maintaining the historic integrity of the property.  The Gettysburg Hotel will remain open during renovations.

Renovations of the 119-room hotel will link the property to its historical past, while allowing it to remain relevant and competitive today.  It is anticipated that this renovation will elevate the overall guest experience and reposition the Gettysburg Hotel to an independent hotel with the premier location on Lincoln Square in downtown Gettysburg.  The renovation will touch all areas of the hotel including the guest rooms, meeting and banquet space, lobby, and the restaurant.  Architectural changes will introduce a more open and exciting lobby space with a fireplace, communal table, televisions and added technology that will serve as both a living room to Lincoln Square and a gathering space for guests.  The existing tavern space will be expanded and a new dining experience introduced to hotel guests, visitors to the city, and the local community. Additionally, fully renovated guestrooms will enhance the visitor experience.

“We are excited to embark on the first major renovation to the Gettysburg Hotel in nearly 20 years and enthusiastic for the positive impact that this will have on the hotel and our community,” said Daniel Konstalid, Vice President for Finance and Administration for Gettysburg College.  “We have assembled an outstanding team to execute the renovation and reposition of the Gettysburg Hotel as the region’s premier choice for accommodations, dining, and special events,” added Konstalid.

The Gettysburg Hotel is managed by Connecticut-based Waterford Hotel Group. Kinsley Construction Company, headquartered in York, Pennsylvania, has been appointed as General Contractor for the renovation project, while Baskervill, an international, full-service firm is providing design services for the multi-million dollar improvements.  DANAC Corporation of Bethesda, Maryland is serving as project manager.  REVPAR International provides hospitality advisory and asset management services to the Gettysburg Hotel.

“The interior renovation will update and unify the property by creating a unique, cohesive style while preserving the historic character of the Gettysburg Hotel,” said Jennifer Farris, Lead Designer, Baskervill.  “Renovations nod to Gettysburg College by utilizing the school colors and integrating historical images of the campus throughout” added Farris.

“The Gettysburg Hotel is a landmark of our community ideally located at the center of downtown,” said Susan Perrothers, General Manager at the hotel.  “Next year is an important one for Gettysburg as we commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.  The Gettysburg Hotel will put its best foot forward in welcoming visitors and the local community through its doors to experience a beautifully renovated hotel, rich in both history and charm,” added Perrothers.
