Kalisher, a leading hospitality art provider, Kalisher, announced today a groundbreaking partnership in Brazil. Artist and company president Jesse Kalisher pointed to this as a significant step in helping United States based hotel brands, designers and developers who need to source FF&E goods inside Brazil that meet their standards for creativity, quality, price and customer service.
“We can now offer every client the same great art, pricing and service that we’re known for here in the United States, and we can deliver all of that in Brazil.” Mr. Kalisher said. The key for Kalisher’s customers, Mr. Kalisher went on to say, is that they can avoid all the difficulties and expense of importing U.S. made goods into Brazil. Brazil is known for it’s steep import duties and taxes, especially on art –sometimes as high as 100%.
Kalisher is a preferred provider for most U.S. based multi-national hospitality brands including Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, Starwood, Carlson-Rezidor and Best Western. Kalisher has also completed art for the last three Hard Rock hotels (in Latin America) and is a preferred provider for Host Hotels & Resorts.
Mr. Kalisher says he spent the last year talking with different partners in Brazil before settling in with the Brazil’s number one supplier of art and mirrors for the furniture industry. Kalisher teamed up with VOA and Hilton to create art for the Hilton Garden Inn/Brazil and Hampton Inn/Brazil model rooms. Kalisher is also in the brand specs for Hyatt Place/Brazil and is in the early stages of at least one 5-6/Star project inside Brazil. Design for all of these projects was handled by Kalisher in the U.S., while manufacturing for all of these is handled by Kalisher’s team in Brazil.
Leo Eskenazi, Hilton’s Director of Latin American Architecture and Design said that, “working with Kalisher has been a pleasure. In Brazil they delivered just like they do in the United States. Jesse and his team worked closely with us and understood our requirements, delivering great art, on time and within budget.”
Brazil is one of four emerging middle class countries, otherwise known as BRIC countries BBrazil, R- Russia, I – India, C- China, and each country is a focus for hospitality expansion and growth.
When we asked Mr. Kalisher if he planned international expansion to any other countries he demurred…and then he added that, “everyone in the industry knows I like to travel, so who knows?”
