When Amitesh Damudar stepped into the role of owner/operator, he embarked on a complete renovation with a vision of blending contemporary cool with a distinctly creative personality. Capturing the charm of the ‘50s-era property, the new design of Tangerine employs bold strokes of color and artistic imagery with a dash of whimsy.
“We worked within the obvious limitations of an older motel property and utilized minimalist elements such as wood, glass, metal and concrete to create a modern and colorful visual experience while retaining the retro charm of the original structure,” says Amitesh. “We also wanted to redefine the classic motel room experience by offering our guests a complete upgrade in overall quality and service. It really is motel version 2.0.”
Tangerine is within walking distance of Warner Bros. Studios and within minutes of Universal Studios, Walt Disney Studios, and Dreamworks Animation, as well as popular destinations like Hollywood and the Sunset Strip. Featuring custom-designed artwork, rooms at the Tangerine Hotel are comfortably appointed with contemporary furniture, ceasarstone countertops and Grohe fixtures. Polished cement floors add to the sleek design aesthetic in some rooms. Standard amenities for all rooms include 32”wall-mounted LCD TV, satellite TV with HBO, refrigerator, WiFi along with secure hardwire connection, iPod docking station and all of the expected guest comforts.
“We don’t pretend to be a 5-star hotel,” notes Amitesh, “but we are thoughtful about every aspect of the guest experience and pride ourselves on providing 5-star customer service in a unique setting.”
