Simmons Hospitality Bedding is introducing its patented Transflexion® Comfort Technology, an innovative foam “break in” process that is designed to increase the durability of mattress comfort layers, at this week’s Hospitality Design Boutique Exposition (HD Boutique) in Miami. The Transflexion foam, which is incorporated into select Beautyrest® Do Not Disturb® models and all Beautyrest Black® Luxury Hotel Collection models,helps minimize changes to the comfort supplied by a bed's foam layers, allowing hotels to provide guests with the same level of comfort whether it’s the bed's first or 1,001st night of use.
“Most traditional foams contain a certain amount of false firmness that is removed over time by guests sleeping on the bed,” said Steve Tipton, vice president of Simmons Hospitality Bedding. “While this is completely normal, the comfort of the mattress can change as a result, triggering the need for replacement. Transflexion Comfort Technology makes false firmness a
non-issue by ‘breaking in’ the foam before the mattress is constructed, which helps to ensure consistent comfort for every guest.”
Researchers at Simmons Bedding Company created the process of pre-stressing polyurethane foam layers before they are used in mattress production to achieve enhanced comfort and increased durability. In the Transflexion process, large sections of polyurethane foam are subjected to high pressure. This forces tiny windows inside the foam cells to pop open and release trapped gas from inside and throughout the foam. With traditional polyurethane foams, the gases stay trapped inside the foam cells until they are gradually released through repeated use of the bed.
